I guess it's high time that I share with you all my profound and deepening love for a particular skincare product that I feel has really changed the way my skin looks: complexion oils or facial oils.  I used to be so scared to put any kind of oil on my skin, given that I have combination skin and very prone to break-outs.  However, as I researched more about facial oils, I discovered that like good fats in our diet, oils are very rich in nutrients and are important in keeping our skin supple and moisturized, especially when the air is dry and as our own skin ages and loses its moisture.

This ever-growing love for facial oils and the impressive way they have worked wonders for my skin made my small collection of complexion oils grow in semi-maddening proportions.  Here is Part 1 of my Facial Oil series.  I will be talking about the different oils that I've tried, what I like or don't like about them, their ingredients and how these can transform the skin.

ELEMIS claims in its packaging that it is a nourishing face oil, and that it's for all skin types.  It has Broccoli, Flax Seed, Daikon Radish as its main ingredients, and I eat all of these and love these!  Daikon Radish is great for hot, soupy dishes that are native to my birth country The Philippines, and I love pickled daikon radish.  I didn't even know it's good for the skin!  These three super foods are actually rich in anti-oxidants and omega 3 fatty acids, so if they are super foods and good for the body, they should be amazing for the skin as well.

I like that the oil is not super greasy.  It is greasy when first applied on the skin, but it gets absorbed into the skin rather fast, and it creates a nice, moisturized film on the skin.  I like to use this oil right before bed.  I cleanse my face and apply my glycolic peel toner, my lactic acid cream, my retinoid, and then this oil to seal the moisture and make the ingredients seep deeper into the skin.  I wake up with skin looking soft, supple, moisturized, and plump.  I am honestly loving it.

It does have a slight fragrance but it's not cloying or bothersome to me.  You can purchase ELEMIS Super Food Facial Oil for $62.00 for a 15ml bottle. A little goes a long way, because a few drops are all you need to moisturize your face.

If you are looking for a moisturizer, try out facial or complexion oils.  I am loving them on my skin a lot more than traditional moisturizers.  Watch out for more reviews on complexion oils on this blog!
