I gotta say that even before this tremendous clamor and hype for highlighters, I was already a highlighter fan. Way back in 2007, I created a blog post on my MAC mineralize skin finish collection, which are basically MAC's most popular type of highlighters. I loved how these MSFs gave me instant glowy skin and cheekbones!
Over the years, though, the formulation of highlighters has changed - for the better, I should say. In the past, most highlighters tend to emphasize large pores when applied with a heavy hand. Now, most highlighters not only give a beautiful lit-from-within look to the skin, but they can be so subtle that you would think that it was the actual skin that radiates and not a cosmetic product.
Becca Rose Quartz shimmering skin perfectorBecca Rose Quartz Shimmering Skin Perfector is one of those new highlighter formulas that give a beautiful glow to the skin without being over-the-top. It is not as subtle as the HOURGLASS Ambient Lighting powders, but it gives a truly lit-from-within look. It creates a luminous subtle rose-hued complexion that is really pretty. In the photos above, I used it to highlight my cheekbones and I really like how it perked up my skin and made it look more alive and luminous.
I will be reviewing the rest of the Becca shimmering skin perfectors and highlighters featured in the first two photos above, so stay tuned!
