bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream with Smoothing Face Brush

bareMinerals' newest face product is here, and I was really excited to try this one out.  This is the new bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, and I first thought it to be a sheer, buildable tinted cream.  I saw a video of bareMinerals explaining this innovative concept.  While other foundations contain water surrounded by oil and pigments, bareMinerals Complexion Rescue has pigments and humectants surrounded by mineral-infused water.  Therefore, they claim that this product easily dissolves in water, and is good for the skin.

I was skeptical at first, because if it is supposed to be easily dissolved in water, wouldn't it melt in heat and humidity?   I put this to the test, and here's my verdict.

I used the shade Buttercream 03.  The  back of the packaging clearly states to "(a)pply to clean skin with fingertips.  Layer for additional coverage."

Active ingredients: Titanium dioxide 6.2%.

This is a little bit confusing, because the back of the product says to apply it to the face using clean fingers, but they have a brush that is supposed to be used with this product.

bareMinerals Smoothing Face Brush

The bareMinerals Smoothing Face Brush is made of duo fibers that can be used to stipple the product in.  I honestly like the buffing brush that is used in tandem with the bareMinerals Pure Brightening Serum foundation better.  I feel that that particular brush evened out my skintone better and effectively applied the Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream flawlessly.  If you don't have that brush, you can just probably follow the directions on the back of the packaging and just apply the product with clean fingers!

Wearing bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream in Buttercream 03

I was surprised that the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream covered pretty well.  It's not a sheer foundation at all.  I would say it has buildable medium coverage.  I like that it evens out my skintone, but I have to admit that I had to apply concealer on blemishes and dark circles to effectively cover them.  It has a very smooth, natural finish that I like.

With a face primer, staying power was pretty decent, I would say 7-8 hours.  It didn't look cakey and was a nice, every day foundation to slap on your face when you don't have time in the morning to really primp and prettify.  This is actually my go-to foundation when I go to work during those mornings when I'm half-awake and feel so lazy to create a full face of makeup.  I just slap this on and my skintone instantly looks more even, with a natural, flawless finish.

All in all, I am liking this foundation for an everyday, natural medium coverage.  My favorite foundation from bareMinerals is still the  bareMinerals Pure Brightening Serum foundation, but this is a nice substitute for carefree days when you don't want a caked-on, full face of makeup.
