Zoya MatteVelvet Fall 2014 Swatches, Review

Press sample

Hope everyone had a fantastic holiday!  Today are some swatches from the Zoya MatteVelvet collection for Fall 2014.  Some of these colors have been around for around three years now, but Zoya is including them in the fall collection for this year.

I have to admit that I am not really a matte type of person when it comes to nail polish, so for the pictures below, I added a top coat for the ring and pinky finger swatches, while leaving the index and middle finger swatches matte.  This is great if you want to compare the two finishes side by side.

Here are the swatches of the Zoya matte nail polishes, and my thoughts on them.

Zoya Harlow

Zoya Harlow

Zoya Harlow is described as a rich, saturated rose plum packed with sparkling metallic shimmer in a velvety mattevelvet finish.  I like it and for some reason, I like it in the mattevelvet finish better than the shiny one.

Zoya Verushka

Zoya Verushka

Zoya Verushka is an emerald green color in the mattevelvet finish.  It looks lovely and the color is deep, opaque and saturated.

Zoya Posh

Zoya Posh

Zoya Posh

Zoya Posh is described as a medium cool wine red with metallic red shimmer in the mattevelvet formula.  This is an amazing holiday and fall/winter color!  Love Posh so much.

Zoya Savita

Zoya Savita

Zoya Savita is another older mattevelvet color.  It is a royal purple color in the mattevelvet formula.  If you love purples, this is definitely up your alley.

Zoya Loredana
Zoya Loredana

Zoya Loredana is a medium gunmetal grey with silver shimmer in the mattevelvet formula.  Another winner color from Zoya!  This is an odd shade but very attractive, and quite edgy as well.

Zoya Dovima

Zoya Dovima

Zoya Dovima is a charcoal black with silver shimmer in the mattevelvet formula.  I like how edgy it is, especially when used matte (no topcoat).

All in all, if you love mattes, this collection is a definite must-have for you.  Even if you are not into mattes, the colors really come alive when a top coat is added, as you can see in the swatches.  I particularly love Veruschka, Dovima, Loredana and Posh.

Zoya Matte Velvet nail polish retails for $9.00 each and is available on Zoya.com.

China Glaze Fall 2014: All Aboard Swatches and Review Part 2

Press sample

Today is all about Part 2 of the China Glaze Fall 2014 collection called All Aboard!  It is a very richly saturated collection that has a travel theme to it.

Here are the rest of the swatches of the China Glaze All Aboard collection.

China Glaze Loco-Motive over Conduct Yourself

I was kind of surprised with China Glaze Loco-Motive.  It's a beautiful mix of grey, silver and orange micro glitter in a clear base.  I have a lot of polishes, but this one seems to be unique in my collection, and that's definitely saying a lot.

China Glaze Choo-Choo Choose You
China Glaze Choo-Choo Choose You

China Glaze Choo-Choo Choose You is definitely one of my favorites from this collection.  It's a gorgeous olive green with flashes of gold.  Such a beauty.

China Glaze Conduct Yourself
China Glaze Conduct Yourself

China Glaze Conduct Yourself is a pretty, vampy maroon creme.  It's not the most unique polish, but it's the perfect fall and winter color.

China Glaze Don't Get Derailed

China Glaze Don't Get Derailed is a nice army green creme.  Not a lot of nail polish companies come up with this kind of shade in their fall collections, so this is a refreshing color.

China Glaze What Are You A-Freight Of?

China Glaze What Are You A-Freight Of?

China Glaze What Are You A-Freight Of? is a chocolate brown creme.  Not a unique color by any stretch of the imagination, but the formula is good and is opaque in two coats.

China Glaze Mind the Gap
China Glaze Mind the Gap

China Glaze Mind the Gap is one of those "ugly pretty" colors.  They are those that you think it's so ugly but it grows on you.  It's a murky kind of greenish brown with beautiful gold micro-glitter, and the flashes of gold reels me in.  It's actually one of my favorite colors from this collection.

All in all, I still prefer the China Glaze Fall 2013 collection over this new one, but this is a close second.  I love how China Glaze mixed a lot of textures in this collection.  Formula was good for the most part.  I love how easy to apply the cremes were, and that they're opaque in two coats.

What are your faves from this collection?

China Glaze Fall 2014: All Aboard Swatches and Review Part 1

Press sample

I am sorry for the long absence!  I have been busy with repairs in our home which sustained some damage.  I am back, though, and will be updating more in the coming days!

Today is Part 1 of the China Glaze Fall 2014.  I love fall nail polishes, just because the colors are so rich and saturated, and the vampy shades just scream fall and winter.

I have the first half of the polishes from the China Glaze Fall collection called All Aboard.  As the name suggests, it is all about travel and going places.  Here are the swatches and my thoughts on this collection.

China Glaze One Track Mind

China Glaze One Track Mind is a beautiful vibrant navy blue.  It may look like a cream, but it is shinier than the other creams I've tried.

China Glaze Stop That Train

China Glaze Stop That Train

China Glaze Stop That Train is just gorgeous!  It's a red-orange shimmer with beautiful flashes of gold.  It totally screams fall and it almost looks like the color of fallen leaves.

China Glaze Well Trained

China Glaze Well Trained is a dark bluish green cream.  Not a favorite, but it is pretty and vampy, and is a good fall color.

China Glaze Choo Choo Choose You

China Glaze Choo Choo Choose You

China Glaze Choo Choo Choose You is one of my top favorites from this collection.  It is a multi- chrome purple-based shimmer with flashes of gold - absolutely breathtaking.

OPI Lug Your Designer Luggage

OPI Lug Your Designer Luggage

OPI Lug Your Designer Luggage from afar looks like your ordinary chocolate brown, but when you look closely, it actually has tiny gold flakies!  Super pretty and unique.

China Glaze All Aboard

China Glaze All Aboard

China Glaze All Aboard is a dusty medium purple cream.  Since I am a sucker for purples, this is totally up my alley.  I love the dustiness of this color - it's not a royal purple which is way too common, but is a nice mid-tone purple that reminds me of Zoya Malia.

All in all, I am liking several colors from this collection.  Formula is generally good and is fully opaque in two coats.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of the China Glaze All Aboard Collection!
