OPI Neons 2014
Summer is upon us, and what better way to celebrate the season that to wear the brightest, most retina-searing nail colors? OPI Neons 2014 is a collection of six bright, festive shades that are best worn under a white base. Some people scoff at using a white base for neons, saying that these are not "true" neon polishes. I beg to disagree- these are indeed true neon polishes. You do have a choice of whether you want a white base so you only need one or two coats of the polish, or to forgo the white base but use 4 coats of the polish for it to fully show up on the nail. The white base just makes the neon color pop. It's no big deal and not an arduous task, really.
Here are my swatches of the OPI Neons 2014, and my thoughts on these.
OPI Life Gave Me Lemons
Life Gave Me Lemons Opi (Nl N33) is a beautiful yellow green neon. Definitely one of my favorites from this collection. It truly complements my skin tone, and I really like how it looks against my skin.
OPI You're So Outta Lime
OPI You're So Outta Lime
OPI Neon 2014 N34 You Are so Outta Lime! is another gorgeous one. It's a green but it's a softer kind of green than let's say a highlighter neon. It's almost a grass green but on steroids. Love it!
OPI Juice Bar Hopping
OPI Neon 2014 N35 Juice Bar Hopping is a bright orange neon. It's just the perfect highlighter color to me. It's almost retina-burning, but the brightness is what makes it eye-catching. Like all of these neon polishes, it has a matte finish.
OPI Down To The Core-al
OPI Down To The Core-al
OPI Neon 2014 N38 Down to the Core-al is one of my absolute favorites from this collection. It is a matte neon coral with a silver shimmer when light hits it. It looks amazing on both tips and toes. It just totally screams summer and would make a great pedi color to go perfectly with flip flops and sexy strappy heels.
OPI Hotter Than You Pink
OPI Neon 2014 N36 Hotter Than You Pink is another amazing color- a nice, hot barbie pink neon. It also has a fine shimmer (this time purple) like OPI Down to the Core-al.
OPI Push and Pur-Pull
OPI Neon 2014 N37 Push & Pur-Pull is probably my least favorite from this collection. I love purples, but this kind of purple is a bit too red-based for my liking.
All in all, I am loving the shades from the OPI Neons 2014 collection, with the exception of Push and Pur-pull. They have a matte finish like most neon polishes out there, but if you don't like that rubber finish, you can always opt to use top coat for a shiny neon effect.
Which shades caught your fancy from the OPI Summer Neons 2014?
