Tarte Holiday 2013 The Tarte of Giving: Gorgeous Getaways Kit Swatches, Review

Tarte Holiday 2013 Gorgeous Getaways Kit

I already talked about this amazing palette from Tarte's Holiday 2013 collection called Gorgeous Getaways in my Tarte Holiday 2013 Collection Swatches and Review Video.  It is an ULTA exclusive.  The best part is the price.  Sixteen eyeshadows, four blushes, three glosses, all for $48.

Let me say that I found the Tarte holiday palettes of the past years a little too cumbersome for travel. They are gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but the boxed palettes were a little too heavy if you want to lug them around.

This time, Tarte found a clever solution around this problem by creating this pretty gold compact that is so very light, it actually feels like it weights nothing. The sixteen shadows in this kit are divided into four quadrants. Each quadrant holds four eyeshadows and one blush. These are coordinating eye and cheek colors that actually pop out of the main compartment by pulling the attached ribbons. Simply pop any of these coordinating shadow and blush quadrants in the gold compact and voila! You have your own travel eye shadow and blush palette!

Here are the swatches of the blushes and shadows:

One thing I noticed in these new sets from the Tarte Holiday 2013 is that the eye shadows' formula tremendously improved from past sets' quality.  They are more pigmented, less chalky, more buttery and have good pay-off.  I am really happy with the improvement of the Tarte eyeshadows' quality.

The blushes are still the same great pigmentation and staying power that you expect from the amazonian clay 12-hour blushes.

This Gorgeous Getaways Kit not only has the sixteen shadows and four blushes, it also comes with three lipglosses:

Tarte Maracuja Lipgloss in When in Rome

I am pretty impressed with the Maracuja glosses- I thought they would be too sheer or all-shine-no-color, but they were actually give a decent color pay-off.  I like that they also have this fresh minty scent/taste.

All in all, I really, really think this kit is an incredibly good buy.  You get  no less than 16 shadows, 4 Amazonian Clay 12-hour blushes, and three full-size Maracuja lipglosses, plus one gold compact which you can pop in your eyeshadow quad and blush for travel.  All for $48!  As I said, this is an exclusive ULTA kit, so hurry to your ULTA stores now.
