Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Concealer Swatches, Review

(Media sample)

I was really excited to try tarte's Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Concealer, which is just one of a total of nine QVC 2013 Customer Choice Beauty Award Nominees from the tarte brand.  I am currently loving how beautiful the finish, coverage and great long-lasting power of tarte's Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Foundation, so I was looking forward to trying out its concealer version.

I got four of the five shades - Fair, Light, Tan and Deep.  Of all shades, however, I did not receive Medium which is supposed to be my shade.  It disappointed me, until I found out that I can easily mix the shades to get the right one for my skintone.

Here are the tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Concealer swatches and my thoughts on these.

It is clear from the swatches above that this concealer is indeed full coverage- thick and great for covering blemishes and undereye circles.  I do have the tarte Maracuja creaseless concealer, and it was very creamy and blended impeccably especially on my undereye circles, but the Amazonian Clay concealer has better coverage.  I didn't find the Amazonian Clay Concealer creasing on my skin despite the thicker consistency.

As you can see in the photos, I mixed the Light and Tan to get my own version of Medium, but I guess I added too much Tan so it was still a bit too dark.  I will add more Light to better suit my skintone.

All in all, just like the foundation variant, I am really liking the tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Concealer.  It comes in a sleek, long-nosed tube for precise application and control of product.  I also like that it has five shades to choose from to suit most skintones.  It has a thicker consistency, so a little goes a long way, and it will take more time to blend than thinner concealers, so keep that in mind.  I do like how it completely covers my undereye dark circles.

QVC sells this product with a dual-ended brush with rounded heads to help apply the product sparingly and blend it seamlessly into the skin (Item No. A231738).  It retails for $25.26 plus shipping and handling.

The Shades Of U Rating: 4.5 out of 5
