MAC Antonio Lopez Mirror and 6 Eyes/Creative Copper Eye Shadow Palette Swatches, Review

MAC Antonio Lopez collection

(Media sample)

I was able to try some of the products from the MAC Antonio Lopez collection. This is such a fun collection as the packageing is truly one-of-a-kind. Antonio Lopez is a renowned fashion illustrator, thus, it is only apt that the compacts' cover has some of his illustrations. The colors are very 80s, and at first I thought the illustrations were anime/manga! LOL! Sorry, that's just the asian in me!

I have a few of the palettes, but for this post, I am focusing on the Mirror compact and the 6 Eyes/Creative Copper eye shadow palette.

Let's start with the MAC Antonio Lopez mirror:

The mirror has both a regular mirror and a magnfied side. The illustration is pretty, and it looked like the black trim all around the drawing is a frame, so much so that it looked like a framed photo. Really cute. The only downside that I can think of is that the material covering the compact is velvet, so it is an unbelievable dust magnet.

I was pretty surprised that I liked this palette. I know I've seen some of these shades before, but I was totally drawn to Artistic License, the mid-tone frostly pink gold in the Veluxe Pearl formula. It reminds me of the eye shadow version of MAC Melon pigment. It's the perfect lid color to create sunset eyes, or just to pair with golds and browns, which was exactly what I did in a look (with a video tutorial coming soon!).

Easy Gesture is a pale warm beige frost which is nice as a highlighter. Creative Copper is a sparkling true gold. I like usin this as a crease or lid color. I also like Golden Touch, described as a tarnished taupe in the Veluxe Pearl formula, but it has an unusual shade which I can't quite describe. Dear Cupcake is a mid-tone coral pink satin, and I love Carbonized as a crease color, a deep warm brown that is also in the Veluxe Pearl formula.

There are two reasons why I like this palette: First, it has pretty, unique shades like Artistic License and Golden Touch; second, the colors complement each other and are quite wearable. It was easy for me to pair the colors and come up with a look using them.

The palette retails for $43.50 US/ $52.00 CDN.

The Shades Of U Rating: 4.5 out of 5
