Sephora Disney Storylook Vol. 3 Ariel Eye Shadow Palette Swatches, Review

My Sephora Disney Ariel Collection (click all photos to enlarge)

So I was able to snag the very last Sephora Disney Storylook Vol. 3 Ariel Palette at my local Sephora.  I'd been stalking the Sephora website for a long time, hoping that this palette would be restocked- to no avail.  I just tried to call the Sephora store 22 miles from our house, since the one nearest to me sold out of these palettes.  I was actually surprised when they told me they still had one.  I rushed to the mall and finally sagged my Ariel palette.

Technically, I just wanted this palette to "complete" my Ariel collection.  While these four items are not the only ones from the Sephora Ariel collection, these are the ones that I really wanted.

I made a Video Review on the Sephora Disney Ariel Collection, and I mentioned my thoughts on this collection in that video.  However, this is a written review with photo swatches of the Sephora Disney Storylook Vol. 3 Ariel Eye Shadow Palette so you can really see the colors and textures of each eye shadow in the palette.

(Swatches and review after the jump)

Swatches:

As you can see in the swatches, the colors are vibrant and smooth.  These swatches were applied without any base, so you can see how pigmented the colors are Ursula, Blue Lagoon, Caspian Sea, Sea Witch.  Most of them have a shimmery finish, but Fins is the lone uber-glittery in the bunch.  It's a beautiful soft grassy green that I used in an eye look (actually, it's the eye look in the video review).

I'd have to say that some of the matte shades can be a bit chalky, like Flounder which is a matte soft yellow.  To make this look more creamy, I apply a tacky base underneath to also make the shade pop.

Obviously, the most beautiful aspect of this palette is the packaging.  A lot of people went crazy for the packaging, and I love how gorgeous the cover of the palette is.  It is obviously ocean-themed, so I wasn't surprised when a lot of the shadows were green, blue or teal.  I somehow wished there were corals or reds in the bunch to represent sea corals or Ariel's hair color.  Nonetheless, it is indeed a beautiful palette that is considered to be a collector's item by a lot of Disney and makeup enthusiasts.

I hope this will still be available on the Sephora site.  I bought this for I believe $55 or thereabouts.

Watch out for reviews of the other items in this collection!
