Estee Lauder The Metallics Nail Lacquer Collection Swatches, Review

Estee Lauder The Metallics Collection

(Media sample)

I was able to try some of the colors from the new Estee Lauder The Metallics Collection of nail lacquers.  These are, as the name suggests, nail lacquers that have a chrome-metal finish.  They all have that metallic sheen to them, thus they are quite eye-catching.

Here are some swatches of the Estee Lauder The Metallics and my thoughts on them.

Estee Lauder nail lacquer in Brushed Gold

Estee Lauder nail lacquer in Brushed Gold is my top favorite, just because gold works great anytime, anywhere.  It's a nice metallic gold and looks very posh on the nails.

Estee Lauder nail lacquer in Chocolate Foil

Estee Lauder The Metallics collection in Chocolate Foil is one of my favorites from this collection.  I love the cool brown metallic shade with flashes of gold, as you can see in the bottle.  I love the dark color because it is perfect for fall.

Estee Lauder nail lacquer in Metallic Green

Estee Lauder nail lacquer in Metallic Green is a beautiful green shade.  I like how shiny it looks on the nails, and also how clean the green looks.

Estee Lauder nail lacquer in Steel Orchid

Estee Lauder nail lacquer in Steel Orchid is a purple lover's nail lacquer.  It's a red-based purple metallic color.  The color looks very rich and I think this will suit a lot of complexions.

Estee Lauder nail lacquer in Midnight Metal

Estee Lauder nail lacquer in Midnight Metal is a metallic bright blue.  I love how pretty these kinds of blue are during the fall.  It is a beautiful cobalt blue that is bright and yet still reminiscent of fall.

Let's talk about the formula.  I'd have to say that the formula makes bumps and imperfections on your nail more pronounced.  I had to apply a ridge filler or one coat of a jelly nail polish (if you don't have a ridge filler) just to create a smooth background for the nail lacquers.  These dry really fast as well, but they dry matte, so if you want a shiny finish, you would need to apply a topcoat.  All in all though, I am liking the shades and the finish.  If you have smooth nail beds, you won't have any problems in application.  If you do have ridges or bumps on your nail beds, it's best to apply a ridgefiller or smooth your nails using a nail buff (buff your nails gently).

Given the beautiful, luxurious nail bottles and the rich, metallic shades, these are great polishes for fall.  The metallic sheen is certainly eye-catching and festive.

What shades are you eyeing in this collection?
