OPI Neon Revolution Mini Nail Lacquer Collection Swatches, Review

 OPI Neon Revolution

OPI Neon Revolution: White Base, Don't Say It- Yellow It!, The Time is Pow!, Pink Outside the Box, Blue it Out of Proportion, Top Coat

(Media sample)

Summer is here, and what better way to welcome the scorching heat of the season than with retina-searing neon colors for the nails!  I was able to try this cute mini nail lacquer kit from OPI called Neon Revolution.  It has everything you need for uber-bright neon nails.  It has the white base that acts like a canvass and makes the neon colors look brighter and more color-saturated on your nails, four bright neon colors in yellow, orange, pink and blue, and a top coat that gives intense shine and prolongs the life of your manicure.

At the back of the OPI Neon Revolution box come instructions on how to apply these nail lacquers:

Simple Steps for the Perfect Neon Nails:
1. One coat of color-intensifying white base;
2. Two coats of your chosen Neon shade;
3. One coat of OPI Top coat for shine and protection.
I followed these steps, and below are my swatches of the OPI Neon Revolution:

OPI Don't Say It- Yellow It!

OPI Don't Say It- Yellow It! is a very bright yellow.  I know a lot of people like super bright neon highlighter yellow on their nails during summer.  This is the perfect neon highlighter yellow.

 Index and middle: Pink Outside the Box, Ring and pinkie-  The Time is Pow!

OPI Pink Outside the Box is your neon pink.  Very bright and summery.  I love this as a pedicure color.

OPI The Time is Pow! is a retina-searing neon orange.  This is truly saturated with color, and I like how these apply on the nails.

 OPI Blue it Out of Proportion

 OPI Blue it Out of Proportion is a gorgeous neon blue!  It's a very bright blue that's the perfect poolside shade.

I honestly think the formula of the OPI Neon Revolution is a lot better than its Nicole by OPI counterpart called Notorious Neons and Scandalous Neons Mini Collections.  The white base in the Nicole by OPI mini kits were streaky, and thus it affected the applications of the color.  The white base of OPI Neon Revolution works a lot better, and evens out on the second coat.  The OPI Neons are more obedient as well, and were easier to apply than the Nicole by OPIs.

The only downside that I can think of is that these come in mini bottles.  I am not a fan of mini nail lacquers, just because I can't control the mini-brush perfectly, and the application is not the best.  However, the nice formula of these OPI Neon Revolutions colors made the ordeal a lot easier.

These are limited edition nail lacquers, so go grab yours while they're hot. Limited edition Neon Revolution mini sets will be available beginning July 2013 at professional salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, jcp Salons, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $19.95 ($24.95 CAN) suggested retail for each mini pack (includes all six products).
