NARS Fall 2013: Kamchatka and Bavaria Single Shadows, Mysterious Red Velvet Matte Lip Pencil Swatches, Review

(Media sample)

Here are three of the items that I am liking in NARS Fall 2013 Color Collection that are now available on narscosmetics.com.  At the end of this post, you'll see a look that I created which I really liked.  I didn't know that teal and dark purple eyes work quite well with a red lip!

I like that NARS incorporated teal into this collection even though it's supposed to be their fall collection.  The teal breaks the darkness and monochromatic palette of fall, and gives a splash of color.  NARS Bavaria single shadow is the teal one with a tinge of gold sheen.  The gold is not obvious but for some reason, I notice it in some lighting.  It's a beautiful lid or crease color, or it can be used to line the lower lashline for a pop of color.

NARS Kamchatka single shadow is my favorite crease color when I am working with blues, purples, pinks, taupes.

Some people might find NARS eye shadows a bit too steep in price, and I agree.  However, you do get what you pay for.  I don't have a ton of NARS shadows, but the ones I have apply smoothly on the lids, and the thing I notice is that they don't easily crumble in the pan, hence there's not a lot of fall-out involved.  The formula is good without being soft.

The NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil doubles as a lipliner and a lipstick.  It glides amazingly well on the lips with very good pigmentation and staying power.  I am wearing Mysterious Red Velvet Matte Lip Pencil below, and it's a blue-based red.  It's not too matte that can be drying on the lips, but it is matte enough to give a matte finish with a soft shine.  The color is saturated and stayed around 4 hours on the lips without retouching and it even survived a meal.

All in all, I am liking these three items that I mentioned.  I am a fan of the Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, the only downside is that you need to sharpen this regularly for a pointed tip that would double as a lipliner.

I prefer Bavaria over Kamchatka single eye shadow, but maybe because I really like teals nowadays.  Kamchatka is a nice dark matte purple that can be used to smokify things or to add depth and dimension to an eye look.
