Maybelline Color Vivids in Shocking Coral, Hot Plum, Brazen Berry

The spring beckons, and to go with the season, we want beautiful, vibrant, colorful lip shades to welcome warmer weather. However, it was a bit difficult for me to find bright, pigment-saturated shades in drugstore or non-department store brands. That is, until I saw the new crop of spring collections of certain brands at Target. One of those collections is the Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids.
These lipsticks truly scream color. They are encased in these nice, bright orange packaging with labels in colors similar to the colors in the tubes. I couldn't believe the reviews until I swatched them myself when I got home. Take a look!
Swatches:
Hot Plum is more of a hot pink creamy lipstick than a plum. It's very bright but as you can see in the photos, it's wearable and flatters the skintone.
Shocking Coral was truly shocking to me, not because it looks hideous, but because it's not as over-the-top as I'd thought it would be. It is bright, yes, but not uber-bright and very wearable. That is coming from someone who used to hate coral because it made my complexion look "dirty".
Wild Rose is a bright magenta cream. This is another nice springy shade.
On Fire Red is beautiful - very red and very "pin up" red, or shall we say 50s red. This would look great with the perfect black liner and tons of mascara.

Brazen Berry is hands-down my favorite out of all the Vivids that I own. I love that it is supposed to look purple, but is very pretty and goes well with my skintone.
Most of the swatches were just swiped once on skin. As you can see in the photos, the shades seem rich, very saturated, smooth and look really creamy. In reality, I can honestly say that they really are all that. I was glad to find a non-department store lipstick that provides rich, vibrant, creamy color like that of high-end brands.
I particularly like the plums and berries in this collection, specifically Hot Plum and Brazen Berry. I feel that these shades really complement my skintone and brighten my complexion. I also like Shocking Coral because it was a pleasant surprise. I thought that the shade would be too "shocking" for me, but it was actually pretty wearable. On Fire Red is also quite nice as it is your quintessential neutral-based red- very classic and classy at the same time.
All in all, I really recommend the Maybelline Color Sensational Color Vivids if you are looking for affordable, rich, vibrant and creamy shades of lipstick. It's been getting rave reviews everywhere, so it wouldn't hurt to try at least one in your favorite color.
