NEW Hard Candy Nail Lacquers for Spring 2013
This spring, Hard Candy has launched no less than 45 different shades, textures and finishes of nail lacquers that have excited a whole lot of nail polish enthusiasts. Hard Candy has divided these into 5 different categories or collections of nail lacquer that are grouped according to finishes. Some of these textures and finishes are unusual enough for mainstream cosmetics brands like Hard Candy, so much so that some of these collections do remind me of indie nail polish brands. Hard Candy has provided this blog with samples of some of these nail lacquers, but I also bought some polishes from Walmart.
I will be swatching and reviewing all five collections, but for this entry, we focus on one of my favorite collections from this launch, the Hard Candy Candy Sprinkles collection. These are cream or cream-jelly finishes with pastel shades and lots of little glitter that look really dainty and very springy.
Here are my swatches and thoughts on these:
Hard Candy Cotton Candy Pink is a pretty light pink with lots of blue, grey, white and silver glitter with flashes of purple. This is very dainty and very girly.
Hard Candy Sweet Tooth
Hard Candy Sweet Tooth is a very pretty and dainty one. It's a jelly sheer light blue with baby shades of blue, pink, silver and black glitter. The base is sheerer than most of the polishes in this collection, so much so that I think I will have to apply a creme base underneath so that it doesn't look so sheer.
Hard Candy Sugar Rush
Hard Candy Sugar Rush reminds me of an Oreo Milkshake. It's a very light blue, almost white base, with blue, silver and black small round glitter.
Hard Candy Pixie Pink
Hard Candy Pixie Pink is so pretty; one of my favorites. It's a light lilac creme-jelly base with baby pink, blue and black small round glitter. Super springy and girly.
Hard Candy Peach Pop
I am very much loving Hard Candy Peach Pop. It's a nice orange creamsicle color with magenta, orange, silver, red small round glitter. It's the only peach color in the bunch so I was really excited about this.
Hard Candy Cocoa Smore
Hard Candy Cocoa Smore is a light cool brown with black, grey, and white small round glitter. I think this is my least favorite because I am not into these kinds of brown bases.
Hard Candy Pink Taffy
Hard Candy Pink Taffy is your Barbie pink base with silver, magenta and greyish black small round glitter. This is very feminine and so cute for spring.
Hard Candy Gummy Green
Hard Candy Gummy Green is my ultimate favorite from this collection. I think a lot of people is in love with this shade as well if you base it on its popularity on Instagram. It's a beautiful mint green with lots of black and white/silver small round glitter. A lot of people think this looks like mint chocolate chip ice cream, and it really does!
Hard Candy Jelly Bean Blue
Hard Candy Jelly Bean Blue is probably the next most popular shade in this collection next to Gummy Green. It's a beautiful light blue creme base with blue and black small round glitter. This is also my top favorite after Gummy Green. I like how clean it looks on the nails.
Formula-wise, I am really loving this bunch's. I thought it would be quite sheer, but most are opaque in two coats, with the exception of Sweet Tooth which is perhaps the sheerest from this collection. I like the pastel shades, and the small, dainty flecks of glitter really spice up the nail look. I like that the glitter is not too big to overwhelm the creme or creme-jelly base.
I would definitely recommend the Hard Candy Candy Sprinkles collection if you are like me who love a good formula in a base, with interesting glitters to prevent it from being boring.
This collection is exclusive to Walmart and each polish retails for $4.
