Glossybox USA Holiday 2012: Glamour, Glitz & Gloss
I was able to try the items from the December (Holiday) 2012 Glossybox offering called Glamour, Glitz & Gloss. It's a box filled with decadent, sparkly treats for the most festive month of the year. It contains glitzy, shimmery items like a Zoya sparkly gold nail polish, Jewelmint jewelry and other products appropriate for the season.
Here were the items in my Glossybox for December:
- Forest Essentials Luxurious Ayurveda Bath & Shower oil (3.38 oz./100 ml)
- Heartland Bath Salts in White Tea (5.5 oz./156 g)
- Pleats Please by Issey Miyake perfume sample (0.03 fl.oz./1 ml)
- Zoya Ornate in Ziv (full size – 0.5 fl.oz./15 ml)
- Jewelmint necklace
- mark. Lipclick in m.powerment petal (full size – 0.106 oz./3 g)
- Wella Velvet Amplifier in a sachet
I am not liking this particular scent, but maybe because scents are very subjective. Eversince I gave birth, I am now sensitive to scents and I only wear scents that really go well with my body chemistry. Sadly, this does not. Pleats Please by Issey Miyake is a nice fragrance and might really smell good on the right person, but this is a bit too musky for me. I do love Issey Miyake's original fragrance L'Eau d'Issey.
I love Zoya polishes and I own a lot, so this is no doubt a favorite item from the Glossybox. Zoya Ziv is a beautiful gilded gold sparkly polish. Very festive and obviously perfect for the holidays.
I've heard a lot about Jewelmint on YouTube, but this is my first time to own one. I was pretty impressed with the hardware as it is pretty sturdy and the piece itself is heavy and not flimsy. I understand that this is fashion jewelry, but the price is a bit steep for $29.99, so I was surprised that one got included in a Glossybox because this is worth more than the monthly subscription price. I received a long necklace that would be great to wear over sweaters especially during this time of the year.
I love body oils so this is no exception. The Forest Essentials Luxurious Ayurveda Bath and Shower Oil is a hefty sample of very sensuous-smelling body oil. This is perfect to apply after shower or bath while your skin is still moist. Do not towel off prior to applying; this is meant to be applied on wet skin to seal the moisture in. I really love how soft, smooth and supple my skin is upon applying. The scent is heady and very sensual. I also love how substantial the sample size is - a 100 ml bottle.
This .mark lipstick is one of my favorites from this month's Glossybox. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried this. It is a beautiful mauvey rose lipstick that is super creamy - my favorite lipstick formula. It is the perfect office-appropriate shade for me. I loved it so much that it made it to my December 2012 Beauty Favorites Video.
The Heartland Fragrance Co. bath salts also come in a substantially-sized sample - 5.5 oz which is good for a few uses. I really like the fragrance- very clean, and it is herb-infused too.
The Wella Velvet Amplifier seems like a promising product, but the small sachet it comes in seems too miniscule for me to form a well-informed opinion on the product. It has a lightweight formula, and it gives a nice texture to the hair, but I can't form an opinion of whether I like this product unless I use it for several more times. The foil packet is too small and holds an inadequate amount of product, in my opinion.
All in all, there are some clear winners in this Glossybox, with a few misses as well. I think the hits are the .mark lipstick, the body oil, the Zoya nail lacquer, and the Jewelmint piece. I am not too happy about the Wella Velvet amplifier and the fragrance sample. However, the hits outweigh the misses and I think this is a solid box, because the Jewelmint piece alone is already more than the price of the box. I am really enjoying the products in this Glossybox, most especially the body oil, the Zoya nail lacquer and the .mark lipstick.
Note: Media sample was provided by a representative of the brand for consideration. All opinions are completely mine.
