MAC Taste Temptation Mattene, Eye Shadow Quad, Blush and Lipglass Swatches, Review

 MAC Taste Temptation

I have tested a few of the items from the MAC Taste Temptation collection.  This collection has a palette of mostly lavenders, pinks and smoky purples.  It's a small collection so I am placing all my items in this one entry except for the nail lacquers which will be in a separate post.

I have been a fan of Mattene lipsticks for a long time.  This is a lot better on my lips than MAC's regular matte lipsticks, just because it gives a really nice, pigmented pop on the lips without drying them out.  This collection has two really nice shades.  I am loving Nocturnal Instincts because I LOVE any greyed pink or greyed lavender lipstick.  This is a mid-gone greyed lavender so this is right up my alley.  This reminds me of my favorite greyed lavender lipstick from MAC called Nouveau Frou.

Night Blooming is your quintessential blue-based hot pink matte lipstick.  This is another classic shade, and a staple for me.  This really works well with my skintone, and is a great shade for the upcoming holidays.

 MAC Perky Lipglass

MAC Perky lipglass

MAC Perky lipglass was first launched in the Balloonacy collection from 5 or 6 years ago.  The minute I got this many moons ago, I got hooked.  It was THE best lavender lipgloss with pearl on me. This lipglass made me realize that lilac shades suit my complexion. I think the mid-tone purple flatters my skintone, and it doesn't apply purplish, but a light beautiful lilac that is just very pretty.

Taste Temptation Eyeshadow x4 Quad is quite a dark palette.  Three of the shades are quite dark and foreboding, and they are a satin, matte, and veluxe pearl.  Look at the Eyes is the only shade that can work as a lid color if you are not going for a smoky look.  It's a light violet frost, but the rest are more of liners or crease or outer lid colors.

If you like mattes, you might want to check this quad out because even the satin shade applies like a matte.  I am disappointed that Carbon is again included in this quad, as it would not be a really terrific buy for the person who already has Carbon in his/her collection.  I also am not into the fact that there are a lot of dark shades in this palette.

MAC Passionately Tempted blush

I am pretty happy with the blushes in this collection.  Unconventional is a pale shimmering lavender frost, and with the winter season, this looks very apt. Passionately Tempted is a mid-tone magenta in the satin formula. Be very careful and use this with a light hand because it's pretty pigmented.  However, when applied right, it becomes a beautiful lit-from-within flush and makes you look like you just got back from walking outside in the cold.

All in all, I am really liking the products in this collection with the exception of the eyeshadow quad.  The mattenes are silky on the lips and not patchy at all even though they are matte.  I love combining Night Blooming and Nocturnal Instincts for a beautiful greyed pink lip look.  Perky is one of the best lilac lipglasses I've worn so I am not complaining about that as well.  Passionately Tempted blush is a winner, and if you have medium to dark skintone, Unconventional might work for you as a highlighter.  I am not feeling the quad because of the too dark color scheme, and just because Carbon is included.

Taste Temptation is available in North America December 13, 2012 and online December 6, 2012.
