This is my favorite Bare Minerals Holiday Set for the loose eye shadows. This set is called the Bare Minerals A Vision In Velvet™ Set. It contains no less than 20 eye shadows, and features 10 velvet matte and 10 velvet satin Eyecolors. As I said in my Video Post: Bare Minerals Holiday 2012 Set Review, I love the packaging of the holiday sets this year. They are packaged in very festive gold or silver lids and cases, which are really quite beautiful and really herald the holiday season. What I also like about this particular set is that it is not filled with shimmery, glittery mica bombs. These are actually soft shine satin colors and smooth, pigmented mattes. These are not your usual super glitter or metallic mineral shadows that we often see in mineral makeup companies. Let's take a look at the Velvet Satin eye colors first.
The Velvet Satins:
Satin Peach, Satin Gold, Satin Caramel, Satin Sage, Satin Rose

I am really loving the Velvet Satins. They have just the right amount of sheen to them to make the lids appear more refreshed and awake, and yet the shimmer is not over-the-top like regular shimmery mineral shadows. As you can see in the swatches, the lighter colors are smooth and buttery, and can make great lid or wash colors. I am really excited when I saw the lighter or nude colors as I can use them for lid shades. I particularly like Satin Gold, Satin Nude, Satin Caramel and Satin Peach (the last one is my favorite). They go with just about anything. Satin Sage and Satin Plum look amazing as well.
The Velvet Mattes:
Velvet Mauve, Velvet Green, Velvet Espresso
Velvet Strawberry, Velvet Vanilla, Velvet Pistachio
Velvet Espresso, Velvet Charcoal, Velvet Taupe
Velvet Vanilla, Velvet Pistachio, Velvet Violet, Velvet Blueberry

The Velvet Mattes look very rich and pigmented without looking chalky like many velvet shadows can. I am particularly liking the darker colors because they can be good crease colors without being chalky. They also make pigmented liners as well. I am liking all the colors in the top row of the swatches.
All in all, this is probably one of the best holiday sets Bare Minerals has come up, especially for eyeshadow lovers. They are great shades because there is a good mix of neutral and bright shades, but this kit is leaning more on the neutral side. They have the smaller versions of the regular sized shadows (these are 0.01 oz), but as many of us know, these mini Bare Minerals jars contain a lot of product and a little goes a long way, so these will probably last you a long time.
The kit retails for $79 and is available at Sephora.com, BareMinerals.com.
