China Glaze Holiday Joy 2012 Swatches and Review Part 1
Tuesday, November 13, 2012
Here is part 1 of the China Glaze Holiday 2012 collection called Holiday Joy. It features 12 different shades and at least half of them are glitters or glitter infused. Let's start off with the glitters. Here are the first six swatches and my thoughts on them:
Angel Wings (sunlight)
Angel Wings (shade)
China Glaze Angel Wings is a delicate (micro-glitter) gold dust. It looks and feels gritty so a topcoat is definitely recommended. Looks festive but not too in-your-face.
Champagne Kisses (sunlight)
Champagne Kisses (shade)
China Glaze Champagne Kisses is a rose gold glitter. This one looks very clean and dainty on the nails.
Winter Holly (sunlight)
Winter Holly (shade)
China Glaze Winter Holly has a unique texture. It is a gold-flecked green glitter with a gritty look and finish. It reminds me of the swatches of OPI Liquid Sand finish - not duplicates but similar. If you want a more smooth, glossy finish, you can always opt to apply topcoat on top.
Pure Joy (sunlight)
Pure Joy (shade)
China Glaze Pure Joy is one of the prettiest polishes in this collection. It was the very first polish I was immediately drawn to. It's a beautiful fiery red glitter with tons of gold glitter. Very festive and holiday-themed!
Pizzazz over With Love (sunlight)
Pizzazz (shade)
China Glaze Pizzazz is a multi-colored glitter in a clear base with lots of purple, blue, gold and silver multi-shaped glitter. It's better used as a layering polish over creams or jellies than just by itself.
Glitter All the Way over Cranberry Splash (sunlight)
Glitter All the Way over Cranberry Splash (shade)
China Glaze Glitter all the Way has very small micro glitter mixed with larger sized multi-hued glitter. Similar to Pizzazz but it has smaller gold glitter particles and does not have the heavy silver glitter of Pizzazz.
All in all, this is a nice mix of glitter, shimmer and cremes from China Glaze. I do feel that having 3 reds is a bit too much, although they do have different shades and textures. I really love the gritty micro-glitters like Winter Holly, and Pure Joy is my absolute fave among the glitters.
Watch out for part 2 of the swatches!
