NARS Andy Warhol Collection Swatches, Look, Review

Like what I've mentioned in my NARS Andy Warhol review, I was able to test three products from this collection: Self Portrait 1 palette, the Flowers 3 palette, and Satellite of Love Highlighter/blush. Here are my thoughts on each item.

Wearing NARS Flowers 3 on the lid and NARS Self Potrait 1 (vibrant green) on lower lashline

I was able to try these three products from the NARS Andy Warhol Collection.  Let's start with the Self Portrait 1 palette.  As the name implies, this is actually Andy Warhol's self portrait, and it features 3 main shades of black, periwinkle blue, and vibrant grass green.  The black is merely an overspray, so that is a bit disappointing.  All these shades are matte, and because of this finish, some people find this hard to apply and chalky.  In my opinion, the shades are vibrant and pigmented especially if a good, tacky base is applied.  Admittedly, though, these kinds of finishes are more difficult to work with than the usual shimmer or satin finishes.  However, I really do like the green shade in this palette.  In the look above, I used the green on my lower lashline, and it really did make my brown eyes pop.  The black shade is dark and saturated, but as I said, too bad it's just an overspray.

My favorite palette from the items I've tried in this collection is the Flowers 3 palette.  It is such a versatile product as the shades are neutral, very wearable and you can wear them anytime, anywhere.  In the look above, I used the pink champagne shimmer shade on the lid, the white shimmer on the tearducts and browbone to highlight, and the dark brown on the crease and outer V.  The shades are foolproof and quite universal- these shades would suit any skintone.  The palette itself is beautiful and a head-turner.

The Satellite of Love is a shimmer highlight which can also double as a blush.  It is described as a shimmering sand so the shade is versatile and neutral and would suit the lightest to the darkest of complexions.  I also like that the sparkles are not too garish and shimmer particles are not too big.

All in all, I am liking two out of three of the items that I got, specifically Flowers 3 palette and Satellite of Love.  I guess Self Portrait 1 is better for those hardcore collectors who are more into these kinds of avant-garde makeup concepts, and it's more of a collectors' item than a utilitarian kind of makeup product.  I feel that Flowers 3 palette gives more value for your money than Self Portrait 1, however, if you love matte shades, you might want to check out the NARS Andy Warhol Self Portrait palettes.  I do enjoy using the Flowers 3 palette, and I would love to bring this with me for  touch ups as the compact looks very luxe and chic.  Satellite of Love is a neutral kind of highlight that would be great for any occasion and for a wide variety of skintones.  I do recommend these last two products that I mentioned  for people who are interested in trying out some of the items from this collection.
