As I mentioned in my Video Review of the MAC Office Hours Pro Longwear Eye Shadow, Lipglass and Blush, these are the Pro Longwear Lipglasses that first came up in the Styledriven collection a year ago. In my MAC Styledriven: Pro Longwear Lipglasses Swatches and Review, here were my thoughts on this product:
As you can see from the close-up shots, MAC came up with these paddle-shaped applicators This is most probably because they need this kind of applicator to apply the product as it is very, very sticky. This is the stickiest lip product that I've tried, bar none. This is tacky obviously to make the products cling to the lips like crazy, as it is named, indeed, the Pro Longwear Lipglass. The tackiness makes the product adhere to the lips and stay put for a pretty long time, even through a meal. It is also difficult to wipe off, and I needed a wet wipe to take it off my lips and skin.
A year later, I can say that yes, the formula is still quite sticky/tacky, but for some reason, I tolerate the tackiness better now than before. Maybe it's because I somehow got used to it? Also, even though the product does not come off through a meal, I noticed that the finish becomes patchy, so I still re-apply the product after a meal, especially if I ate something oil-based like Italian salad dressing.
MAC did away with the darker shades (which I really didn't care very much for), and retained the more neutral, red and coral ones which I like. Boundlessly Beige is a nice light beige with pearl. It is more shimmer than pigment, so this is great to layer over darker lipsticks or to place on the center of your lower lip for an attractive shimmery finish. Ready or Not! is a neutral light coral with slight pearl. Very versatile and can be used for a variety of lip looks. It can also be work over regular lipstick to make the lipstick long-wearing as well. However, I like Everlasting Nude more as it is a bit darker and suits my pigmented lips better, but it gives a really nice warm caramel cream shade. Driven by Love is a beautiful bright blue-red with slight pearl. These products are not only sticky, they are quite pigmented. They are not sheer at all. This is great especially if you want something that operates like a liquid lipstick.
I've seen these new products in a new light and yes, they are still tacky, so stay away from them if you don't like sticky glosses. However, because they are tacky, they do last longer on the lips, and the shades are very rich and pigmented.
