I just posted my MAC By Request Lipstick Swatches and Review: Rocker, Candy Yum-yum, Moxie, so this time it's all about the lipglosses. As you may know, MAC had their fans vote for their favorite cult classics to return one more time in an online-exclusive collection, and these three lipglasses are the winners in the Lipglass Category.
Bait is an iris pink with gold pearl that is a frost finish. I almost bought it when it launched in June 2006 under the MAC Lure Bait collection, but I got another lipglass from that collection instead. This is a pretty, frosty shade. I think this is too light for my pigmented lips when used alone, so I will apply this over lipsticks to prettify them and add a nice pink with gold pearl sheen.
Cult of Cherry is absolutely gorgeous. It is described as a clean red with red pearl. It is not a super bright or a fire engine red, but just as its name suggests, it's like a cherry red with nice red pearl. This brightens my complexion and is a universal shade I believe.
Flash of Flesh has a strong gold-ish sheen although it's a nude pink. It looks gold even on my lips. It is a nice shade and I think it will suit most complexions. If you love warmer, gold-tinged lipglasses, this one is for you.
I think that the only standout shade in this bunch is Cult of Cherry. I think Bait and Flash of Flesh are similar to countless shades of lipglass that MAC churns out regularly, and can be duped easily as well. I also do not like that all of these lipglasses have pearl in them; I would have wanted a straight cream lipglass without any shimmer or pearl in this collection.
All in all, the shades are pretty but I think only Cult of Cherry is a must-have. The other two are nice shades to layer over lipsticks especially for pigmented lips like mine.
