Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF35 in Medium
Bobbi Brown BB Cream in Medium
Blended
If you check the "BB Creams" tag under the "Labels" tab on this blog, you would know that I have tried a lot of BB creams. BB creams are also known as "Blemish Balm" for asian BB creams, or "Beauty Balm" for its American counterparts.
As with all BB creams, the Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF35 is a multi-tasker. It's supposed to be a moisturizer, treatment, SPF and foundation all-in-one. Bobbi Brown also claims that this has a skintone correct formula that leaves skin looking flawless and perfectly natural. Strong claims, so let's put it to the test!
As with my other BB creams, I apply this as follows: I place a small amount on the back of my hand, take my Coastal Scents's kabuki-on-a-stick brush (similar to the MAC 109 in terms of head size), and apply the product on my face in circular, buffing motions till it is blended seamlessly. I apply another light layer as needed. I top off with a light layer of mineral foundation, just enough to set the BB cream.
As you can see in the photos, the product is thick and not runny like some of the BB creams I've tried. From the texture alone, I knew this was going to even skintone and cover more than some of my BB creams. The question though is will it look like a mask or will it look natural?
Wearing Bobbi Brown BB Cream in Medium
Can you say "amen"? This has got to be the most flattering BB cream on me. It hides imperfections and minor blemishes, but it leaves the skin looking natural, the skintone even. I did not even apply a lot of product, but it truly made my skin appear flawless without looking like a mask or a cakey mess. Wow. I am really impressed.
I used to dislike some BB creams because leaves my skin looking "naked" because they are so sheer. The Bobbi Brown BB cream just gives the right amount of coverage but still makes it look like second skin. I also like the slight, healthy glow that it gives to the skin.
Bobbi Brown touts this product as a multi-tasking correction cream with long-term benefits. It claims that when used over time, the product provides brighter, more even skintone and diminished appearance of fine lines, reduced redness and minimized pores. I have not tried this long enough to give an informed opinion on these claims, but I sure will use this product till the last drop. It is really one of those products that have climbed to my "staples" category.
The best part is that unlike asian BB creams, Bobbi Brown offers no less than five shades to suit most skintones: Extra Light, Light, Fair, Medium, and Medium Dark. I use the Medium shade and it's perfect for me.
Not only that, but this product has SPF35 which is a lot higher than some BB creams that I've tried. Most of them only offer SPF20 protection which is not enough for me; I use at least an SPF30 for my face. However, the downside of this high SPF is that sometimes flash photography will create a white cast on the skin; so be careful when wearing this product and shooting photos with flash.
Ingredients and Benefits according to Bobbi Brown:
Scutellaria Extract helps reduce the appearance of discolorations and dark spots for a brighter, more even skintone.
Argireline, a natural peptide, helps boost natural collagen production, minimizing appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Caffeine and Sucrose helps prevent redness associated with irritation and blemishes.
Vitamin E and Rice Bran Extract help protect skin from free radical damage.
SPF35 provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.
Emollients enhance skin's luminosity and other long-term moisture.
Light Reflective Pearls instantly brighten dull skin.
All in all, I think this is one of the best if not the best BB cream I've tried. I am really liking the very natural finish it gives. I also have sensitive, acne-prone skin, and this has not broken me out unlike some asian BB creams. I do highly recommend this for someone who wants to try a correcting cream, light foundation, SPF and moisturizer in one.
