tarte Perfect & Treat 6-Piece Maracuja Color Collection Swatches, Review

I was able to play with tarte's new QVC-exclusive kit called Perfect & Treat 6-Piece High Performance Kit. It comes with a tagline called, "what has your makeup done for you lately?", and features 5 new products and the gifted Amazonian clay smart mascara. Each of these six products contains tarte's signature Amazonian clay and maracuja oil- two ingredients that I've really come to love in my cosmetics. The 6-piece High Performance collection is valued at over $160, and is packaged in an eco-chic, floral box. Here are my thoughts on each individual product in this collection.


Retoucher flawless finish bamboo foundation brush







This brush is way up my alley. This is exactly what a foundation brush should look like in my book. I think I've mentioned about a dozen times on this blog that one of my favorite foundation brushes is my Coastal Scents' kabuki-on-a-stick, which is similar to the MAC 109, another favorite of mine. The Retoucher flawless finish bamboo foundation brush that comes in this tarte kit has the same small, dense head that is found in both the MAC 109 and the kabuki-on-a-stick, and is perfect for buffing in foundation for the perfect airbrush finish. I love the soft but dense head because it gives absolute control to the user in terms of the application of product and blending foundation flawlessly. I also like the nice gold ferrule and long bamboo handle. Very chic yet eco-friendly! (retail value: $32)


Maracuja miracle 12-hr foundation with Broad Spectrum SPF 15









I was given the shade Deep, which is obviously too dark for my skintone. I however was given a sample of Medium, and it's the closest to my shade now that I have a slight tan. I will be posting a look using the Maracuja miracle 12-hr foundation, but as you can see in the swatch, the finish looks amazing. It looks creamy and yet flawless, and is a buildable medium to full coverage foundation. Since it is made of maracuja oil, it also makes the skin look creamy and bright with a subtle, dewy glow. You can always opt to tone down the dewy look by setting with translucent powder. I also really love the frosted glass with the sanitary pump- looks very chic and high-end! 5 shade options: Fair, Light, Medium, Tan and Deep. (retail value: $42)


Pure Maracuja Oil in rollerball form







As I said in a previous post, I am in love with this tarte's maracuja oil. It is my miracle oil. I use a lot of complexion oils as opposed to creams at night because I feel they work better with my retinoids and Vitamin C serums. The Pure Maracuja oil works just as great as my emu oil in moisturizing my skin at night and make it feel and look supple when I wake up in the morning. Best of oil, complexion oils, particularly maracuja oil, do not break my acne-prone skin out, but just infuse moisture to my skin and making it soft and moisturized in the morning. This particular product is in roller ball form which is perfect for travel. It also prevents spills of this precious product (I hate it when my maracuja oil in the bottle dispenses more than I need from the dropper). (retail value: $22)


LipSurgence™ lip shine in an exlusive QVC shade, Smitten















The LipSurgence™ lip shine is kind of a lip plumper with lots of shine and soft pigment, and it has a minty taste that one may or may not like. This kit comes with the shade Smitten, a soft pink which is a QVC exclusive. I am not much into sheer pinks because I have pigmented lips, but this is nice for everyday looks when I don't want much pigment on my lips but just a soft, luscious shine. The volumizing gloss is also perfect for summer when you just want a soft but glossy lip color. Gotta love the built-in sharpener in the cap as well. (Retail value: $24)


Gifted Amazonian clay smart mascara







I've only been using this mascara a few days, so I can't comment on tarte's claims that 91% of women saw healthier lashes in just 3 weeks. It is however described by the company as a hydrating, replenishing and reparative mascara, increasing lash volume by 406%. I can't vouch for that particular percentage, but I do have the shortest, sparsest lashes on the face of this earth, and I really noticed that my lashes looked a bit fuller and lush. I will post a look using this mascara with before and after photos. I also love the really zen-ish appeal of the packaging due to its bamboo tube. The Gifted Amazonian clay smart mascara has amazonian clay which absorbs excess oil to keep lashes balanced and help keep the product in place. (retail value: $19)

This is one of my favorite products from the set. The modernEYES waterproof creaseless shadow/liner is a dual-ended product that has a plum-berry shadow on one end and a similar but darker-shaded liner in the other. Both ends glide like a dream on the skin. I especially love the fact that the liner is really pointed and thin for that crisp, precise line. I like to use the shadow as a colored base for my powder shadows, and it does make my shadows last the whole day when used as a primer. I also use it as a shadow itself for a nice wash of color on the lids. (retail value: $25)

All in all, this is such an amazing value. You get the amazing 12-hour Maracuja miracle foundation with SPF 15 (you can't ever go wrong with SPF in your makeup), my favorite maracuja oil, the Retoucher flawless finish bamboo foundation brush, the Gifted amazonian clay mascara, the modernEYES shadow/liner, and the Lipsurgence™ lip shine all for a little under $50. My favorite items are definitely the foundation, pure maracuja oil, the foundation brush, and the shadow/liner. I would gladly pay for $48.98 for those items as I have tried and tested them and they do work for me.
