Elizabeth Arden PREVAGE® Intensive Day Cream and Restorative Night Cream Review

I was able to try two anti-aging creams from Elizabeth Arden's PREVAGE® line which is the brand's premium anti-aging line of skincare. They work in tandem with each other as one is a day cream, while the other is a night cream. The Intensive Day Cream has SPF30 which is perfect for me because I don't wear any day cream with sunscreen lower than SPF30. These two creams are supercharged with moisture properties. Here are my thoughts on these. Let's start with the PREVAGE Day Intensive Cream.

Elizabeth Arden knows that during the day your skin’s focus is protection. It needs to shield itself from environmental stressors. Prevage Day protects from UVA/UVB rays, guards against moisture loss with intensive hydration. This particular cream is saturated with moisturizing properties. It is rich and emollient. If you have oily skin, this may not be for you, but if you have normal to dry skin, your thirsty skin will be able to drink heavily from this potent and rich cream.

I was pleasantly surprised that this cream has its own spatula which is not only sanitary but economical, as you can control just exactly how much of the product you'd need. As you can see in the photos, the cream is very rich. It really makes my skin look supple over my makeup. It delivers Idebenone to shield skin from oxidative stress caused by environmental exposure. The brand says that Idebenone is "The single most powerful antioxidant* with an EPF® rating of 95 out of 100." (*For face products, environmental protection is against oxidative stress due to sun, smoke and pollution, with Idebenone compared to alpha lipoic acid, kinetin, vitamin C, vitamin E and coenzyme Q10.)" It is an intensely moisturizing day cream, and the brand claims that it "diminishes the appearance of aging signs and existing sun damage such as fine lines, wrinkles and discolorations." I cannot vouch for that claim, but I do feel that my skin is extra supple, smooth and radiant. I like to use this when I see dry patches on my skin due to my retinoid regimen. It soothes my irritated skin and makes it soft.

The best part of all is the sunscreen of SPF30. As I previously said, I don't like to use day creams with less than SPF30 sunscreen, so this is such a treat.

PREVAGE® Night Anti-aging Restorative Cream

During the night your skin’s focus is to repair the damage of the day. The brand claims that PREVAGE Night helps to fight the visible effects of environmental damage from the day and optimize skin’s natural moisture and repair capabilities, working to minimize the appearance of lines, wrinkles, discolorations and the effects of sun damage.

The packaging also has a nice concept to shield the product from dirt and other grime that can impair its effectiveness. It is housed in a sanitary tub with a button on top which you can press to dispense product from a little spout beside it. It dispenses a small amount which you can use for the entire face.

This cream also contains the Idebenone technology was specially formulated to work during the night in synch with skin’s sleep cycle. It is such a very rich night cream but is not too cloying to the skin. As you can see in the photos, it is not too thick, but it is quite emollient. When my skin is feeling extra dry, I use this to pump moisture into my skin. I use this over my retinoids and vitamin C serum to push the products into the skin. I wake up to a softer, supple, more radiant skin.

All in all, I am pretty impressed with this formula. The day and night cream would make amazing winter creams. Some people may find it a bit too rich for summer, but this is great for mature, dry or normal skin types even during summer, if you feel that your skin is a bit too dry.

The Day cream retails for $129 for 1.7 oz jar and the Night cream is available for $132 on the Elizabeth Arden website or counters.
