As I said in my previous Zoya Summer 2012 Beach Collection Swatches and Review, Zoya comes up with two new collections called Beach and Surf, with Beach being the collection of cream finishes and Surf of comprising of shimmer finishes. This entry will feature the big, bold, bright and dazzling shades of Zoya Surf.
Zoya Kimber
Kimber is one of my favorites in this collection. It's a magenta-watermelony pink jelly base with lots of gold shimmer flecks. Super summery and bright. Love it!
Meg
Meg is a spring green metallic with lots of gold shimmer flecks. Since I love green polishes, this is way up my alley. I love how dazzling it looks when light hits it. Reminds me of its counterpart in the Zoya Beach collection, Tracie, but instead of light foily shimmer, Meg has full-on iridescent shimmer.
Rory
I'm not a fan. Sorry. Rory is described as a lotus pink foiled metallic, but it is mostly comprised of a lot of silver metallic flecks. I just don't know, something about the combination of the shade and finish throws me off. It would be perfect on pale skin, I would imagine.
Carly
This shade is a bit too dark for summer, I believe. Perfect for fall and winter, but is pretty nonetheless. Carly is an eggplant purple foil metallic. Super shiny and glossy.
Myrta
Ugh. And I used to hate oranges and coral nail polish, and now I can't get enough of them! Myrta is no exception. It is a gorgeous coral-red metallic foil with gold shimmer flecks. Super pretty.
Zuza
Zuza is perhaps the star of this collection. It is absolutely gorgeous in real life. It is described as an aquamarine with foil metallic shimmer, and in the photo above, you can really see the foily specks both in the bottle and on the nail. This is your perfect summer pedi or mani shade. I can understand why a lot of Zoya fans love Zuza.
All in all, I am liking the Surf collection better than the Beach collection, but it all boils down to a matter of preference. If you like springy shades of cream polish, Beach collection is for you. Surf is all about metallic foils and bright summery colors, so if those are your type, then Surf is for you. Surf shades have good pigmentation and the shimmer flecks are really pretty and sparkly. The formula is good and didn't give me any problems. Be sure to use even, thin coats and apply a second coat after a minute. Use a shiny topcoat for uber-shiny nails.
My favorites are definitely Zuza, Myrta and Kimber. Such pretty, glorious shades for summer.
The collection is now available at www.zoya.com for $8 per shade.
The Shades Of U Rating: 4.5 out of 5
