Kaplan MD® Beverly Hills Lip 20 Ultra Hydrating Balm Review
Tuesday, April 3, 2012
I've searched for a lip balm that would not only hydrate and saturate my lips with moisture, but one that would provide sun protection and heal and repair my lips from chapping and dryness. Sounds like a tall order? Well I think I may have found it.
I was able to try Kaplan MD® Beverly Hills Lip 20 Ultra Hydrating Balm. It's a cute little balm that looks so ordinary I would have easily mistaken it for a drugstore balm. This product however is pretty special as it is formulated with patented peptides and 22 USDA certified organic extracts to moisturize, contour and, as claimed by the company, add natural fullness. This product contains Seabuckthorn Berry Extract, a moisturizer 20 times more effective than Vitamin E. The key ingredients aside from the berry extract are Squalene, Maxilip, Marine Collagen, Hyaluronic Filling Spheres, and White Beeswax.
The minute I applied this product on my lips, I immediately felt the difference. The Seabuckthorn Berry Extract went right to work. I felt my lips were SO much more moisturized compared to my favorite petroleum jelly based Rosebud salve. Really. It just made my lips so soft and moisturized that it easily prepped my skin for the application of lip products. It just feels so comfortable on the lips without the warm, sticky feeling. I actually look forward to applying this on my lips in the morning as I get ready to apply makeup, as I know it would make the puckers feel soft and ready when I apply my lipstick and gloss. Best of all, this product is parabens-sulfate-petrolatum-caster oil-propylene glycol-mineral oil-PABA-and-cruelty-FREE.
I would hoard these little tubes if they weren't priced $35 each. Yes, it is expensive, but I feel that if I love it so much, might as well buy it because I know I will use it and not just have it lying around and languishing in drawers. My other gripe is that the lettering on the tube easily rubs off even without me doing anything. It just sits in my drawer and not getting banged against the other products, but the label still rubs off. I would suggest that a better packaging be implemented befitting such an effective, high-end product.
All in all, though, this is one of the best balms I've tried and definitely my favorite of late. It is on the pricey side, but if you are like me that have tried a million lip balms and would like to try something different and would pamper your lips, this might be your product.
These are available exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus, and also on neimanmarcus.com and bergdorfgoodman.com.
