Shu Uemura Fresh Pore Clarifying Gentle Cleansing Oil Review

Does anybody else think that using a cleansing oil on oily or combination skin would make things - well - oilier? That's what I thought too. However, that was before I tried the Shu Uemura Fresh Pore Clarifying Gentle Cleansing Oil. This cleansing oil is specifically formulated for combination to oily skin conditions. So what does a cleansing oil actually do for oily or combination skin?  Shu Uemura is especially known for their cleansing oils, so I really wanted to try this one and I had high hopes for this product.

It is basically a lightweight cleansing oil that lifts and removes makeup, dirt, sebum, and impurities inside pores, while maintaining the skin's moisture levels. Shu Uemura claims that this is great for people with normal to combination to oily and even acne-prone skin.

It didn't disappoint.  I have acne-prone skin on the chin area, maybe due to fluctuating hormones or something. I make doubly sure to clean that area and cleanse it with acne-fighting cleanser and acne reducer serum. That said, I was scared to apply this cleanser on my chin area because I thought it would exacerbate the acne. I was pleasantly surprised when it actually cleansed the area of makeup and grime, without stripping it of moisture and making it look scaly and dry and peeling. That's not to say it was greasy. It left a supple feeling on the skin without feeling filmy or oily. I really like how this feels on the skin after cleansing. I use cotton pads to take off both my eye and face makeup, and it gently gets rid of eye shadow, liner and mascara in a few gentle motions. Best of all, this didn't break me out, and it did make my pores a little less visible.

I use this prior to washing my face with my Philosophy cleanser, and in tandem with this, my Philosophy Purity and Clarisonic facial cleansing system, my skin feels soft, clean yet moisturized and not scaly. I am really loving this combination of cleansing products for my skin.

This comes in a huge 453 ml (15 fl oz) bottle that will last you months and months, because a pump or two is all you need. It retails for $67. Or, you can opt for the smaller 150 ml or 5 fl. oz. for $31. You can purchase this at the Shu Uemura website.
