Sheen Supreme Lipstick:

This recent collection from MAC celebrates asian chic with new shades of the Sheen Supreme lipsticks and the introduction of the Sheen Supreme lipglass. The Sheen Supreme lipstick was launched last year after MAC retired the Slimshines. Like the slimshines, the Sheen Supreme lipstick is a marriage of pigment and shine. It reminds a lot of people of Revlon lip butters because they are very shiny and yet operates like a lipstick (more like a liquid lipstick). I love how buttery these glide on the skin, and how I don't need a separate lipgloss to create a luscious, shiny lip look. All in all, this is a winner for me. As I said, I love the marriage of color and shine, and the creamy goodness of the formula made me fall in love with it. The softer hues also make me a huge fan of this line.

My favorites would have to be Bare Again, a pinky neutral beige creme, Sheer Mandarin, a midtone yellow-orange cream that looks weird in certain lighting but is actually very pretty worn, Tea Ceremony which is a neutral beige pink (perfect everyday lippie along with Bare Again), and Zen Rose, a bright fuchsia creme (you know me and my bright pinks!). I also like Insanely It which is a pretty and summery watermelon pink (combined with the shine, this is such a sexy color!). For spring, Asian Flower is a very pretty shade, a creamy lavender. Other shades are Supremely Confident, a pale nude cream that is waaay to light for me, Happy Hibiscus which is a scary creamy white pink for me (can you say "glow in the dark"?), and Fashion City, a neutral coral pink which is actually quite lovely.

If you like a marriage of shine and pigment, otherwise known as the lipstick/lipgloss hybrid, you might wanna check these out.

These new Sheen Supreme Lipglasses are obviously inspired by Japanese culture. The shades' names are very whimsical and pretty. The packaging is disappointing for me as I never liked clickpens. You twist the base of the pen and it is very hard to gauge if you have clicked once too many because you don't know when the product is going to spurt out in blobs from the tip of the brush applicator. The product amount is also quite miniscule for the price ($14.50 for 2.5 ml/0.08 fl. oz.) For that price, I'd like to control exactly how much is coming out of the applicator in every click so that I don't waste it. The initial use is the most wasteful as you don't know when the product is supposed to come out. I don't like the packaging very much, and this probably influenced my opinion on the product. Objectively, though, the lipglass itself is pretty nice. I don't think it's as sticky as the regular lipglass, and it has the scent of the lip gelees (you know how they smell differently from lipglass, right). It is a bit thicker than lip gelees, but that's okay because that means it will stay on the lips a bit longer. My favorites are the ones with pigment, especially Dress Kimono, a midtone frosted plum. The others I like are the more neutral ones, perfect by themselves or worn over lipstick for a shiny look. I like Jasmine Honey, a light cream beige, Fuji Pink, a pale peach with low level pearl, and Almond Blossom, a pale pink with high level pearl. Mango Sheen is quite pretty as well, a bright coral with pearl that would look great on some skintones.

All in all, the product itself is good, but the packaging ruined it, at least for me. Too bad.
