I was quite excited to try out the Perfect Formula Holiday 2011 nail polishes. It was my first time to try out the brand and I was curious about the product. This collection features three deep, rich, festive and edgy colors, and one light shade which I don't have. I have the three vampy shades that truly herald the coming of the winter and holidays. Here are my thoughts on them.
Invite Only
Invite Only is a gorgeous wine-plum creme. Perfect Formula pretty much describes itself because I love how the formula glides on the nailbed and is pretty much opaque in one or two coats. Invite Only applied so easily and was the most opaque of the three shades that I have. Very rich and pigmented. I love the color so much on my nails that I couldn't stop staring at my hands. I applied some Essie Luxeffects Shine of the Times flakie topcoat and it looks amazing, I must say:
Caviar
Caviar is your quintessential blue-based red creme that is the most perfect shade for the holidays. This alone will spruce up a little black dress on any occasion. I can never have too many red cremes.
Black Tie
Black Tie is a nice gunmetal metallic shimmer. Usually this kind of finish is rather streaky, but I didn't have a hard time evening out the brush strokes on the nailbed. Just make sure to apply in thin, even strokes to prevent brush stroke city and cuticle drag (that bald spot near your cuticle after applying way too many strokes).
I am pretty impressed with the formula. You can tell that this is not cheap polish even before you find out that it retails for $15 each. The formula is neither watery nor goopy. You can create rich, opaque coverage in two coats. It also lasted a few days on my nails without any chips. This may be expensive for $15, but if you are eyeing to splurge on a nail polish for the holidays, I recommend Invite Only or Caviar for that perfect holiday manicure.
You can purchase the Perfect Formula Holiday 2011 collection at perfectformulas.com, and these will also be available on QVC.com this month.
