As we age, we see the skin between our upper lip and nostrils become less plump and we start to see fine lines. We see older women having thinner upper lips and vertical lines due to loss of collagen. You may also notice lipsticks bleeding into the lines around the mouth due to collagen loss. Dermelect Cosmeceuticals gave me an opportunity to try out a product from their line that addresses these concerns.
Dermelect Cosmeceuticals' Upper Lip & Perioral Anti-Aging Treatment claims to address the physical factors that represent upper lip aging: vertical lip lines, shadowy under-the-nose pigmentation and the loss of collagen that leaves lips limp and fine.
The brand claims that this product treats the lip area with peptides, moisture binding agents and skin brighteners, and instantly softens vertical upper lip lines, provides a line-erasing treatment without irritation and painful injections and improves growth of skin cells. It also claims that instantly softens vertical lip lines and frown lines and lightens and brightens shadowy below-the-nose pigmentation.
I've tried this product for a few weeks now, and I can say that I don't have any deep or noticeable vertical upper lip or frown lines, so I cannot vouch for this product's effectiveness in softening these lines. I do however notice immediate smoothing and softening of the area between my upper lips and nostrils, as well as the skin around the mouth area. The area above my upper lip feels softer and more supple upon application. If you have marionette lines, you can also use this to soften the lines' appearance.
I don't have any Before or After pictures because, as I said, I don't have (yet) those noticeable lines around my lips. I can honestly say, however, that this product makes the skin around my mouth really moisturized and supple. I will continue to use this in the hopes that it will prevent future vertical lines around the mouth.
It is important to note that you should NOT use this on the lips. This product is made specifically for the skin around the lips, specifically the area between the nose and the upper lip, where we see more vertical lines due to smoking, loss of collagen, and age factors.
