UltraFlesh Black Magic Black Eye Liner Collection Swatches and Review
Wednesday, August 17, 2011
Sometimes, one black liner is not enough. We sometimes want a matte, dark-as-sin liner that is perfect for smudging to create sexy, sultry smoky eyes. Sometimes we yearn for a precise, sleek black line that only a gel liner can deliver. Other times, we want a sparkly black liner for added bling on a night out on town. Now it seems that we can have it all. Ultra Flesh Black Magic Eye Liner Collection has everything I'd just mentioned, all in one sleek, multi-compartment compact.
This set contains:
- Wet/Dry Black Liner
- Wet/Dry Black Shimmer Liner
- Black Smudge Liner
- Black Kohl Pencil
- Black Shimmer Pencil
- Mini Pro Angle Liner Brush
Every awesome blackness in one container!
Matte and Shimmer Wet and Dry liners
Shimmer and Matte liners, applied dry
These are amazing. They are softer of course when used dry, but gives a very carbon black color, and the shade is intensified when used wet. It's also great used dry when you want a soft black that can be smudged. You can apply this using the Mini Pro Angle Liner Brush included in the kit, or any kind of brush to your liking. The Shimmer liner is not really a glitter overload kind of product, but as seen in the swatches, the sparkle is enough to be noticeable. Pigmentation is rich and bold.

The second tier of this cool kit houses the Black Smudge gel liner. This is probably my favorite. It glides like slick black ink! My favorite liners are gel and liquid because most of the time, I prefer precise, sleek black lines. This Black Smudge is as black as death. It's not splotchy and gives a really nice, defined line.

Some people prefer pencils to powder or gel or liquid liners, so this kit gives them that option. I like that there is a shimmer pencil in this set, but I am not sure if that is safe to use on the waterline or tightline areas, as those shimmer shards can irritate the eyes. That said, these are really smooth-gliding pencils and are quite pigmented. The only downside is that they are super tiny; I don't think you would be able to use these for a long time because you'll run out of these quickly.
All in all, these liners are very pigmented, don't migrate to other areas of the face, are vibrant and bold. I also like the staying power, they stayed put for a minimum of 8 hours in my experience. If you are into black liners and you don't find them too harsh on you (there are some people who find black liners are little too austere for their looks), these are for you. I like black liners because they are very versatile, can be softened or made dramatic depending on your look or whim, and can be used for any occasion. Black also defines the eye to make them look sultrier/sexier if that is what you want to achieve. I love that somebody thought to house black liners in different textures, formulations and finishes in one kit.
UltraFlesh Black Magic Black Eye Liner Collection is available at Sephora stores and Sephora.com for $39.
