MAC Semi-Precious Haul and Swatches Part 2

I picked up some MAC Semi-Precious stuff today, and I was able to swatch the complete collection at the MAC store, so here are some swatches. I will not be posting an extensive review in this entry, just some thoughts on the items I'd just bought. If you want to read my reviews on this collection, you can check out the following:

I also just received my new camera lens which I bought overseas, so here are some clearer product photos. Pardon the condition of some of the products, they've obviously been loved!

First off, here is my haul today:

Swatches and mini-review after the jump

These are the items from this collection that I really liked which I didn't have yet. Semi-Precious Goldstone MSF is beautiful; a base of brown with rosy pink, white, and gold inner circle. The base is not really brown to me, more of like a bronzey-gold to my eyes, and it applies like bronzey-gold on the skin. That means it doesn't look muddy at all. I love it; it just gives a beautiful sun-kissed glow to the skin.

Blue Sheen is a melange of navy, black and peach. Beautiful deep blue. I plan to use it as a liner more than a shadow.

Smoked Ruby is a melange of burgundy and black. Like Blue Sheen, it has smooth, rich pigmentation, unlike other mineralize eyeshadows from this collection. I can't wait to use this on the crease/outer lid.

234 brush

234 brush

I got the 234 split-fibre eye blending brush. It is a cross between a 224, 217 and a small version of the 190 (foundation brush). One side is made of synthetic fibres and the other of natural hairs. The synthetic side is recommended for application of cream or emollient products and for blending, while the natural side is for picking up and applying powder products. I really am not sure how I would be able to use this for blending because as with most brushes, I use the tip of the head of the brush to blend. The fibres, especially the synthetic side, are especially firm and resilient, and will make it a bit hard to blend eye shadows. I will do a test run and update this review.

I'm definitely looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the 234. I have the 217 and the 224 and I'm quite drawn to the 234, but I think it's a little redundant. I currently use the 217 the way the 234 is meant to be use- one side is all dirty and black because I use it to blend while the other is nice and clean since I use it to apply highlight. I think I'm drawn to the 234 because it's a new brush!

Thanks for the swatches! What do you think is a good dupe for unsurpassable,I'm not sure if it's worthcgetting or not,I want something similar to that color. Xoxo

Sylvie- same here, I was drawn to it because it was new, but I really use my Sonia Kashuk blending brush for blending more than the 234.

vanessarm818- I believe LustreLeaf eyeshadow is similar since I swatched them together, although Unsurpassable has more fallout and micro-sparkles.
