I was surprised by this kit. I guess the name of the kit betrays the fact that the products are meant to give a more natural but ethereal glow to the skin, like you've been basking in love and happiness every minute of your life. Therefore, most of the products give a natural but sun-kissed look. Let's start with the Primetime Brightening Sunlit Eye Primer. It of course acts as an eyeshadow base. It is on the shimmery side, but when blended properly, it blends into a soft layer of subtle shimmer on the lid. It is a pretty good eyeshadow primer as it made my eyeshadows crease-free and vibrant throughout the day.
The Queen Phyllis Matte Eyecolor is one of my favorite Bare Escentuals shadows of all time. I've had it before and I am glad to have it now in this collection. It is a beautiful soft ivory with light gold tones. It is not super matte but kind of a satiny finish, not like the usual glimmers from BE. It is amazing as an all-over lid color and also as a highlighter to perk up tired eyes. I like it applied on the lid with a darker color on the crease and outer V, as well as on the browbone and inner corners.
The Love Radiance All-Over Face Color pleasantly surprised me. I thought that it would look too orangey on my face because it looked saturated in the pot. It honestly doesn't look orangey at all. It gives a very light pinky-warm peach color and perks up the complexion. It also prevents my face from becoming too pale. It has this light glow to it to blur imperfections and help create that ethereal but softly warm look.
The Best Friend Lip Balm helps to give a pop of color to the lips. It operates like a balm mixed with a lip stain. It gives a reddish look to the lips, but the intensity depends on how heavily you apply it. I do treat this more as a lipstick than a lip balm because of the pigmented shade.
Big & Bright Eyeliner in Oz is my favorite item from the collection. It is such a beautiful emerald!! This prevents the look from becoming too neutral and boring by providing a beautiful green shade on your lashline. I used this on my lower lashline and it instantly kicked the look up a notch. It is very pigmented and applies like butter on the lids.
The only item from the collection that I didn't appreciate was the XOX charm. I don't use charms, or at least not this kind of design.
All in all, I appreciate most of the items in this collection. For $35 (with a retail value of $78), this is good value for your money, especially since the items are makeup staples that you can use everyday like the eye primer, Queen Phyllis eye color, Best Friend lip balm and Love Radiance.
