Spring Makeup and EcoTools Brushes: Bamboo Smudge Eyeliner, Finishing Kabuki and Retractable Kabuki Brushes

I've been a longtime fan of EcoTools brushes from as far back as I can remember. As I've said before, EcoTools is the perfect combination of classy, chic brush design and packaging (I love the Zen-ish appeal of the bamboo handles), and affordable, sustainable materials. The fact that these brushes are vegan, made from sustainable material like bamboo and recycled aluminum only shows that the company truly cares about the environment and not out simply to make profit. The brushes are also affordably priced, it's hard not to fall in love with these brushes.

EcoTools has created new brushes that cater to the discriminating makeup enthusiast. Each brush has a specific special trait that distinguishes and sets it apart from other run-of-the-mill brushes. Let's take a look!

Bamboo Smudge Eyeliner Brush With Sharpener

I love this brush. I have never seen a brush like this - dual ended with a pencil brush on one end and a sharpener with cover to collect shavings on another. And what's great is that I love both sides. The pencil brush is nicely domed, firm and resilient. It has the same firmness as the MAC 219. This would be great as a smudger for a smokey eye look, or to apply color on the lower lashline. It would also be great to apply color on the crease if you want a defined look. Of course, the sharpener with cover is just nifty. You sharpen your favorite liner, apply, use the pencil brush to smudge! Very convenient and clever.

EcoTools Finishing Kabuki Brush

EcoTools boasts that the Finishing Kabuki Brush works wonders with picking up the perfect amount of pigment without getting too ruddy. This is EcoTools' version of the duo-fiber brush. It comes in a sleek, sexy silhouette made with EcoTools' signature bamboo handles. It looks and feels so sturdy that you would think that it is made of wood.

It has a full, dense head of fibers that are perfect for stippling. This deposits the sheerest whisper of color on the skin to create a lit-from-within look. This is great for applying bronzer, pigmented blush, or even liquid foundation. The sturdy base also allows it to stand by itself on the counter. The most amazing thing is that it is SO affordable! It retails for $6.99, and yet looks like a very high-end brush!

Recycled Aluminum Retractable Kabuki Brush

This is a staple in my travel makeup kit. I use these for touch ups because I hate powder puffs that come in compacts since they are a breeding ground for bacteria. The retractable head and cover protect the brush from dirt, and the compact packaging makes it very easy to tote it everywhere. I use it with my mineral finishing powder or mineralize compacts to refresh my makeup. It is also very affordable ($5.99).

All in all, I cannot rave enough about these EcoTools brushes. These are affordable, eco-friendly, chic and not cheap-looking, and best of all, they do the job. What more can you ask for?

The Shades Of U Rating: 4.8 out of 5 stars

The retractable brush looks great but I can't purchase Eco Tools in Europe without going through ebay and paying $12 for the shipping :( They really should expand internationally.

This is the first announcement of the EcoTools Finishing Kabuki Brush and Bamboo Smudge Eyeliner Brush With Sharpener that I've seen. Thanks for sharing! The stippling brush's handle does look posh, but I wish it came in a sleek travel-friendly handle.

Ashley- same here!

Copycat- I know right? Looks so sleek and chic.

Sylvie- they should. Maybe it's just a matter of time.

Justine- I think it's compact enough to be travel-friendly. Also, the pouch doubles as a brush case so you can tote it wherever you go.

Just found your blog and I adore it! Just yesterday I went in Walgreens and bought that finishing brush. I love it. I cant believe these EcoTools brushes. They are amazing and the price cant be beat. Ive always been a product snob and with this horrid economy ive had to branch out and get things drugstore. Im finding that the drugstore has some great things that are comparable to high-end! Thanks for the great blog!!
