Aquage Transforming Paste and Transforming Hair Spray Review
Thursday, January 20, 2011
I have short hair and I like it styled piecey and full of volume. Knowing what I want with my hair, I sometimes marvel at those women that have short hair and yet are able to hold piecey, trendy hair styles without gravity and humidity bogging them down. This is the reason why I was excited to try out these products from Aquage. The company claims that these products can let you sculpt, shape, and style your hair as piecey as you want it, and yet the formula will have exceptional resistance to humidity and can deliver shine and softness to the hair.
Let me start with the Transforming Hair Spray.
Wow, this stuff really holds! When it says it can hold piecey hair styles, it surely does deliver. This is a very strong-hold formula and it does keep your hairstyles intact for several hours. This is good news for me because I have fine, limp hair, and I rely on volumizing products to keep my hair from succumbing to the laws of gravity. I attended a wedding recently and it held my hair up for an entire thirteen-hour stretch. Not bad. The downside is that if you do not like strong-hold hair sprays, this is not for you. I also like the sleek packaging.

Transforming Paste:
Now I don't really sport hairstyles as extreme as the one in the picture, but it gives a pretty good idea of what this Transforming Paste can do. It's basically a styling wax dispensed from a clean, sanitary pump that is so ingenious. No more dipping grubby fingers into pots of hair wax! It is a molding wax that Aquage touts as having the flexibility of wax with the hold of a hairspray. I do agree with that description.
The product is thick, so a little goes a long way. You pump a pea-sized amount on the palm of your hand, and then rub your palms together to emulsify the product, making sure that the product goes between your fingers before applying to your hair. Apply the product with your fingers going through your hair from roots to tips, but be sure that you emulsified the product between your palms AND fingers prior to application. You start with a very small amount and just add more product if necessary. Keep styling your hair with your fingers until you reach your desired texture. You can have hairstyles as piecey as you want with this product. If you want volume instead, this also delivers. It gives my hair volume, shine, and it also puts stray, static-y hairs into place.
Tip from Aquage: "For maximum randomness, separation and definition, flip the head upside down and tousle dry with the blow dryer set on high heat and high air flow to encourage strands to form and creative maximum texture."
This is best used on blowdried hair. It is said that you can also use this on wet hair if your hair is short, but I prefer to use this on dry hair.
I love this transforming paste. It gives me the volume and piecey texture that I want without bogging the hair down. The secret is to use as little product as possible, because this product performs well even in small amounts.
