Aromaleigh Astronomical Eye Shadow Collection Swatches and Review
Friday, December 3, 2010
Here is another eyeshadow collection from Aromaleigh called Astronomical (now only $3.50 per jar!). I know you're all probably wondering, "I thought it's now closed?". It seems that Kristen is just consuming the last batch of raw materials she has until she completely closes shop. I am definitely not complaining because I want this mineral makeup company to be available to the public for as long as possible. You might wonder why I always use Aromaleigh mineral shadows for my eye looks. I've tried a lot of mineral shadows and Aromaleigh just blends easily and flawlessly. It looks a lot like high-end eye makeup on the eyes, and I am not exaggerating. Some may find it too bling-y, but I don't, especially if I pair up darker matte crease colors with the lid shades. I have a ton of samples and it's just fun to browse through my photo album of samples and pick out color combinations.

Anyways, here is the new collection, Astronomical. It is of course celestial bodies-themed, and I like the combination of earthy neutral colors and blues and greens and golds. These were all swatched dry, so you can just imagine how much more vibrant these are when foiled. Also, note that the flash might have washed out many of the colors, as these are more vibrant in real life.
For these yellow, green, blue and purple batch, I am drawn to the last six colors on the back of my palm, from Antimattter to Milky Way. I just love Antimatter, it is like a soft shimmer blue-grey that I would like to use in a number of looks. Escape Velocity is a beautiful blue-grey shimmer that would be great for the crease. Umbra is a nice shimmer lilac that would be nice to pair with EV, and Milky Way I guess would be a favorite- a shimmery pink white.
Note: Ephemeric should read Ephemeris.
For this batch of earth tones, pinks, and gold, my favorites are Ephemeris, Neutrino, Big Bang, Dark Matter, Mega Parsec and Apogee, but my favorite from this collection is Dark Matter. It's like a taupe-gold shimmer that has different nuances that depend on which angle the light hits it. I like Neutrino because it's an understated neutral, and Ephemeris would look great as a wash on the lids with browns, greys, or blues as crease colors. Apogee is a nice mauvish brown, and Mega Parsec is a greyish plum that looks so pretty.
I can't wait to create looks using these. I kinda like Wonderstruck, Spells, Ciao Italia and Mythos better than this collection because the colors in the collections I've mentioned are the shades I usually wear, but I've found some amazing shades in Astronomical as well, like the ones I've mentioned. If you love neutrals and pinks and greens/blues, you will find at least a couple of shades that will pique your interest in Astronomical. As always, pigmentation is top-notch and colors are vibrant. The formula is one of the best I've tried in the loose eyeshadow department - glides like butter, very easy to blend and apply. If you ask me what I would recommend, do check out the blues, pinks, neutrals and dark colors from this collection. They are quite lovely.
The Shades Of U Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Note: Samples were provided by a representative of the company for consideration and evaluation. All opinions are 100% mine.
