This is my most favorite out of the entire YSL holiday collection. I love highlighters and this one is a gorgeous one, right from the packaging to the product inside. The packaging is one of my absolute faves. It comes in a gold leatherette case with its own mirror. The front of the case is embossed with the YSL Cassandra logo which adds to the lavish look and feel. It is a stand-out in my makeup kit. In a sea of black compacts, this leatherette case is a refreshing sight.

The product itself is lovely. It is also embossed with the YSL logo, and I love that this is not actually a highly metallic highlighter, but more of a pearlescent finish.

It gives a pretty lit-from-within look that doesn't look garish or over-the-top. It serves a wide variety of uses. You can use it as wash on the lids for a touch of light, or YSL even suggests it be used on the decollete for an alluring glow. I would personally use this on my cheekbones for a beautiful soft gold-pink glow, or to highlight the brow bone. The powder itself is subtly flecked with light diffusers that blur imperfections, which is useful especially as we age. It not only gives a nice glow to the skin, but it diffuses light and makes the skin look more radiant.

Touche D'Or Face Highlighter

Touche D'or
L-R: Heavy swatch, blended

Touche D'or can be aptly described as liquid gold because that's how it looks like to me. Literally, it means Touch of Gold. However, it doesn't appear as yellow gold, but more more of a pale, champagne-y gold that is on the neutral side. I like it because it is not very yellow that I sometimes see in liquid highlighters.

This has a variety of uses, the main purpose is to highlight any part of the face. You can use this to highlight the browbone, cheekbones, bridge of the nose, you can use this as an eyeshadow base to lend a bit of shimmer to your eye look, or my favorite, to highlight the inner corners of the eyes. You can also use this under your eye area to diffuse light and brighten up dark circles. This is also lip-safe and can be used to give a luscious sheen to the lips.

I am a big fan of highlighters but I mostly use powder or mineral highlighters, so I am glad to have this in my makeup stash. The consistency is just right, neither too thick nor too runny. A little goes a long way as well. The only thing I don't like here is the packaging and the click pen. For some reason I really do not like click pens, and the brush is useless because I use either a separate concealer or detail brush, or my fingers. I also think the brush applicator may dispense too much product and thus can be wasteful. However, the product itself is great, and just like the Metallic Colorama, it illuminates the skin, giving the illusion of flawless complexion and radiance.
