Target Haul: Rimmel Polish in Steel Grey, Revlon Age Defying Spa Foundation
Sunday, November 21, 2010
I went to Target today to stock up on one of my favorite foundations, Revlon Age Defying Spa foundation, but in the process, I also got some items that piqued my interest. More on those in a sec, but let's start with the Revlon foundation. It comes in a squeeze tube that I like because it's sanitary that way, but I HATE the brush applicator. That's the reason why I always chop off the brush hairs whenever I get a new tube.
I love this foundation because of the seamless and flawless finish. I use the 003 Light shade, but since it has SPF18, I look washed out in pictures, so I bought the 004 Light Medium one to mix with the 003 Light. I loved that the foundation I got has a free Spa Concealer attached to it, so that's really a good buy.
As you can see, I chopped off the brush hairs of my old tube, so I also did the same for the new tube. I hate applying it with the attached brush and prefer to use my Kabuki-on-a-stick from Coastal Scents (a dupe of Bare Escentuals' Handy Buki brush). The attached brush makes it look messy and yucky, so I had to take it out.
EDITED to add: I used a pair of pliers tonight and it completely removed the head of the brush. Good riddance!
I will be making a separate review of the Revlon Age Defying Spa Foundation, so stay tuned.
As you can see, I also bought an eyeliner brush from Studio Tools which I plan to use as an eyebrow gel brush (yes, I use an eyebrow GEL, so stay tuned because this is such an amazing product from Tarte).
I have a bajillion lipsticks but I am on the lookout for a brown-mauve cream lipstick that I can use for everyday. I like cream lipsticks because they are opaque and can be very long-lasting as well. I was drawn to Rimmel lipstick in Promise. It's is obviously on the mauve side of the spectrum which looks great on my skintone. This is going to be my new everyday office lipstick.
Finally, two polishes caught my eye. I love the dark teal from Sonia Kashuk (I didn't know they sell nail polish!) called Taunting Teal. It is a nice dark bluish green that reminds me of MAC's Blue India, although the latter has definite grey undertones and Taunting Teal doesn't.
Rimmel's polish in Steel Grey is more of a mousey taupe. I applied it with a Konad image on top using China Glaze polish in Millenium:

How are you liking the Sonia Kashuk polish? I was swooning over "Tauped" but hesitated since I haven't tried any from the line. I'm a sucker for the taupes.
