I was able to try and swatch MAC's newest lip product offering, the Pro Longwear Lipcreme. The MAC MA that helped me at the counter told me that it is important to make sure that the tube clicks shut after each use because the product easily dries up. Also, the tube is different from the regular bullet-shaped lipstick tubes of MAC. The Pro Longwear lip creme has a flat-top cap with a slanted tube at the exact same angle as the product inside. The product is packed tightly in the tube without much space, which is probably better because some of my regular MAC lipsticks broke at the base, and it was difficult to apply them when they have too much wiggle room inside the tube.
The MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme is probably one of my most favorite lip formulas from MAC ever. It has this really creamy texture that I had been looking for in lip products. The creamier, the more pigmented, the better. These bad boys are pigmented with a capital P. I really, really like how creamy they are and yet they pack a mean punch when it comes to color saturation.
I really don't care much about the staying power of lipsticks because I like to apply my lip products regularly (like right after a meal), because, let's face it, newly-applied lipstick looks more fresh compared to a longwear lip product that has been applied hours before, especially if your lips have gone through some intense activity like kissing or eating. That said, I really don't find these lipsticks extraordinarily long-wearing. They apparently have a longer staying power than the regular MAC lipsticks, maybe because they are quite pigmented. However, they are not as tough to take off as let's say the previous Pro longwear stuff that MAC came out with. I wore Sweet Ever After and it faded after 3-4 hours. However, as I said, I really don't care about the staying power. As long as I love the texture, slip and pigmentation of the lipstick, I am all for it. And those are the things I love about the Pro Longwear Lip Creme.
See how gorgeously pigmented and creamy these babies are even in swatches? Those are exactly how I want my lipsticks to look.
Faithfully Yours is a blackened dirty purple cream that changes color at every angle as you can see in the photos.
Till Tomorrow is a cream greyed mauvy brown that looked like it would look great on my skintone,
Sweet Ever After is a beautiful copper frost. This is what I have and I will post a look using it in the next few entries.
Made To Last is a deep plumy brown frost that is the perfect fall shade.
Unlimited Muted is a dirty rose cream that I will definitely snag because I just love old rose colors! The cream formula makes it a winner.
Goes and Goes is a blue violet cream that I would love to use because I am such a sucker for purples.
Good To Go is a loudmouth orange cream that would probably look great on the right skintone, but not on mine.
Overtime is a light baby pink cream that would look best on light to medium skintones. Very pretty.
Now the reds. Ahhh. Prolong is a very pigmented true red cream. If you love a '40s pin-up look with the quintessential red lipstick and black liner, I believe this would be the perfect product.
Extended Play is a gorgeous blackened brick red that I most definitely will get because it is not the usual red that you see. Looks beautiful, deep, rich, pigmented. Perfect for fall.
Perpetual Flame is a pink cranberry cream that also looks amazing. I can't pick a favorite, these are really all LOVELY.
Love Forever! is a bright blue pink cream that will work with cool and neutral skintones. For some reason it reminds me of St. Germain lipstick.
All in all, the Pro Longwear Lip Cream is a dream come true for me, texture and pigmentation-wise. I love the beautiful rich creams and frosts, and how the color pay-off is just amazing. It is not really very long-lasting, but as I said, the fact that these are rich, creamy and pigmented is enough for me.
The Shades Of U Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars
