Even though most of my looks on the blog nowadays feature liquid foundations, I almost always use mineral makeup on weekdays. Why? In all my experience dealing with foundations, I still find mineral makeup to be the gentlest, most beneficial foundation for my skin, because the real mineral foundations have only 4-5 ingredients that are bereft of parabens, talc, and other unpronounceable ingredients that clog pores and wreak havoc on my skin. If I use liquid or traditional foundation for more than twice a week, I break out real bad. However, that doesn't mean that I cannot get more coverage or won't have the same flawless finish with mineral makeup as I do with liquid makeup.
To mimic the liquid foundation effect, I use the "wet method" with mineral makeup. I dispense a little mineral foundation on a swirly bowl, I take my flat top or long-handled kabuki brush and swirl the head onto the bowl, making sure that all the minerals are tucked into the hairs of the brush, then apply the product on my face in circular, buffing motions. I then repeat the process if I need more coverage. I then take a facial hydrating mist and spritz the liquid on my face, then I buff my face again to let the liquid mix with the minerals. It sets the foundation and gives the minerals a liquid foundation finish that I like, without the pore-clogging ingredients.

One of my favorite mineral foundations of late is Joppa Minerals Full Coverage foundation. I almost always reach for this on a regular basis. I love the full coverage because it gives great coverage using only very little product - so it's actually economical and beneficial to the skin at the same time. Finish is simply flawless and staying power is amazing.

Wearing Joppa Full Coverage
I never sleep without taking off my makeup, but one night I arrived home so tired that I just slept with my Joppa mineral foundation still on my face. I woke up alarmed because I had a zit the night before and I knew that sleeping with makeup on would actually exacerbate the bad zit situation. Lo and behold, the zit actually subsided and went away overnight with Joppa. That means that Joppa actually worked as a mineral overnight treatment, a product that I see a number of online mineral makeup companies carry as part of their line as well.
My only gripe about the product is that they made the containers a lot smaller. See above photo: the original pot I got from them was huge (right), while the one I got recently was a lot smaller. They do actually last a pretty long time so that is not an issue, it's just that I prefer larger jars.
Also, their customer service is quite good. My package got lost in the mail (I bought two Medium-light jars during their sale), so I e-mailed them about it. No response. It definitely peeved me, but two replacement jars arrived in a week or so, with an extra sample of their handmade soaps. I appreciated the quick replacement of the products, but I had hoped they would have at least replied to my email. Maybe they were just busy during that time, but what matters was that they were able to follow through and replace the products, and for that I am really grateful.
All in all, I am very impressed with Joppa Full-Coverage foundation and I will be a repeat customer. This formula works great for my combination, acne-prone skin. If you don't like full coverage foundations, their Soft Coverage can work for you if you have normal, acne-prone or oily skin. If you have mature, dry skin, you can try their Simple Radiance formula, and their Morning Dew formula is a bronzer and foundation in one.
They also have lovely mineral blushes and their silk finishing powder is a great buy as well. I use it to set my makeup for a flawless finish.
The Shades Of U Rating (for Full Coverage formula): 4.75 out of 5 stars

Arisha- aww thanks, your comment made my evening. :)
Looks and sounds good! I might actually try that mist/foundation buffing thing with my foundation tomorrow :) I usually spritz after I apply my foundation just because mineral foundations look a bit too matte on me, but I'll try mixing them too
OMG! its a good thing I have my joppa here and the mmu hardly expires. :)
