NYX Round Lipsticks Review and Swatches

So as I stated on Twitter yesterday, I received my order from Cherry Culture of NYX round lipsticks in my mailbox under 110 degree heat.  Needless to say, the lipsticks were melted when I opened the package.  I placed them in the fridge to harden for a couple of hours, but some of them remained deformed even after their stay in the fridge.  Some of them held up pretty good, though. 

I didn't know that the mailman was going to put them in the mailbox.  I had always avoided buying lipsticks online in the summer, but I'd thought that they were going to be placed at the doorstep.  I asked somebody to look out for the package, but it turned out to be baking inside the mailbox.

Oh well.  As you can see, many of them are out of shape or bent, and bear the telltale marks of being out in the sun too long.  They're still amazing though and apply really well.  I've been craving for cream lipsticks of late, and when Cherry Culture had a 20% off sale, I decided to grab the opportunity to get some NYX round lippies.  I have one or two of these lippies, but I am so glad I got them in one go.  They're actually just 18 lipsticks, not 22 as I previously stated, but they are still quite a bargain for less than $2 a pop during the sale. 

Aside from the price, I really like the quality of these lipsticks.  They apply smooth, very creamy and they don't irritate or cause any allergic reaction to my lips.  They don't dry out my lips either, but I always use lipbalm underneath anyway.  I also love the absence of any scent or nasty taste.  I love just how simple the product is but it packs a mean punch in terms of pigmentation and quality.  I now understand the widespread clamor and raves about the NYX round lipstick.  I am actually kicking myself for not having this haul sooner.

As you can see, I bought mostly neutral colors for everyday application and for those days when I love dramatic or smokey eyes and a neutral or barely-there lip.  I love greyish pinks, mauves and any lippie with slightly purple undertones.  However, I also got some bright red or reddish lipsticks to overcome my fear of wearing red lipsticks.  Yes, I do not wear red, but maybe these nice lip colors can help me get used to the bold lip look.  I bought mostly creams because I love, love creams, but I also got a few frosts because frost lipsticks look great if the shade is right.

Aren't they pretty? I cannot choose just a few favorites because I want to wear them on the lips first to decide.  Right off the bat, though, I was drawn to B52, Thalia, and Heather because they are the kinds of shades I use on a regular basis.  Power, Castle and Summer Love are great shades as well.  I cannot wait to wear Electra, though.  It's a bright blue-based red that I think would work well with my skintone.  Stay tuned for lip swatches soon!
