MAC Superglass Swatches and Review
Friday, April 23, 2010
Here is MAC's newest lip product offering- Superglass! The superlative term may sound cheesy, but it does describe the finish of this product. First of all, even in terms of packaging, it really draws attention to itself and differs from its cousin, the Dazzleglass. Superglass is housed in a hexagonal tube that somehow looks like those ice crystals/tubes from Superman's parents' cave in Superman 1 and 2 movies (I wonder if that's where they got this product's name?). LOL, my imagination is running wild here. Anyways, it has a pretty distinct shape and you could easily tell your Dazzleglass from your Superglass mainly from their packaging.
Second, Superglass has the same sticky formula as the Dazzleglass. In my opinion, it is a tad more sticky. Warning: Do not use this without lip balm underneath as this is super tacky. I applied it on my lips without anything underneath the first time and it was uncomfortable because it was really sticky. It looked and felt a lot better when I used my Carmex lip balm underneath.
I guess the good news is that because the formula is tacky, staying power is very good, just like the Dazzleglass. You can eat, drink or kiss wearing it and it would still be on your lips after your activity.

Disco Blend
Sweet Tart
Sweet Tart is a pretty pale baby pink and Disco Blend is a light tan. However, like the Dazzleglasses, these are pretty sheer and it is probably better for you to layer these over lipsticks if you want more color. However, since summer is fast approaching, I feel people will want a lighter, glossier, more luscious pair of lips, so I think this would be a perfect companion to the beach or even on a date.
As you can see, the glitters in Superglass are chunkier than the fine microglitter in Dazzleglass. The shapes of the glitters are odd as well, they are not perfectly round. MAC describes them as "snowflake-shaped helicone pearls sparkling in three different facets". So they are not technically glitter but pearls? They may look like snowflakes when they are still glossy, but when they settle on the lips, they just look like microglitters to me. However, MAC is right when it says that there is not a hint of grit on these babies. If you smack or purse your lips, you won't feel sand-like particles on your lips; just smooth, even texture.
Since I love dazzleglasses, it's only apt that I like the Superglass because they are very similar. The only difference I see is that Superglass is stickier and it has odd-shaped helicone pearls. If only for that aspect, I believe there will be some who will prefer Dazzleglass over Superglass, maybe because they prefer microglitters over helicone pearls? I don't know. However, as I said, since I like shiny and sparkly glosses, I am actually liking Superglass. The added bonus of having good staying power is not bad as well.

i can see that theyre quite thicker i like the sweet tart
I LOVE Dazzleglasses to death but I was so disappointed by the Dazzleglass Cremes which had nowhere as much shine as Dazzleglasses. This is definitely calling my name but from the lip swatches I've seen, they look a lot like glitters you find in nail polish. Are these obvious flecks of glitter (or helicon pearl, whatever they call it) or is it seamless, effortless glitter like in Dazzleglass?
I'm not crazy about how big the glitter flecks are but the colors are nice.
