China Glaze Poolside Collection Swatches and Reviews

Here is a bunch of neon-bright polishes from China Glaze that will definitely turn heads this summer. These are ultra-bright, neon shades that will look great on tips and especially the toes to welcome the warm weather. In applying these new pretties, though, it is important to wait till each coat is completely dry before adding the next. The application is thus a bit tedious because of that, but my blow dryer helped a lot to speed up the drying. After each coat, I blow-dried my nails in the coolest setting so that each coat would dry in seconds. These polishes also needed at least three coats to create an even, beautiful finish, except Yellow Polka Dot Bikini which needed four.

Kiwi Cool-Ada is a neon bright green polish that will surely command attention. I love this shade as green is my favorite color. It was a bit streaky when I applied but the third coat kinda evened things out. You could still apply an additional coat to really make the finish as opaque as possible.

Yellow Polka Dot Bikini reminds me of a highlighter pen in yellow that was used to paint my nails. Ha. This is the color I liked the least because it streaked a lot and four coats simply weren't enough. If you look closely, it is not as opaque as the other shades. A coat of white polish underneath would make it less transparent and would probably even things out. This is great for toes and tips while lounging by the poolside. Your cocktail waiter won't forget to serve your order: "Piña colada is for the lady with the neon yellow nails."

Flip Flop Fantasy is another highlighter pen color for me - a bright neon coral-pink. This one applied a lot better than Yellow Polka Dot Bikini and is so pretty worn. This is one of my favorites from this collection.

Aaaahhh!! My favorite of the bunch! I'd never thought I would love bright blue polish this much. Towel Boy Toy is the only polish from this collection that has shimmer and it is also the easiest to apply. This is a beautiful three-coater and is a bright Pacific beach blue. So damn pretty.

Pool Party is a bright, traffic-stopping hot pink, or could be watermelon pink on steroids. I believe this would look awesome as a pedicure color with the brightest flip flops for summer, or maybe with those strappy heels. Three-coater, and another winner.

Sun Worshipper is a bright but not too-deep orange. Reminds me of the color of orange Tic Tacs. If you love oranges and these shades suit your skintone, I would suggest this polish. This is also a 3-coater.

All in all, I was surprised by this collection. I'd thought that I would hate these because I don't like neon polishes, but I was pretty surprised because they are actually wearable especially if you use them on the toes. My favorite of them all is Towel Boy Toy, mainly because of the gorgeous shimmer and finish, and the ease in application. The rest have their own pretty selling points - pick your own highlighter shade! These are truly fun, unique colors to herald the coming of the warmer season. The only downside is that the formula may be a bit harder to work with since each coat needs to be completely dry, and the polish would need at least three coats to achieve an even finish. Nonetheless, you can blow dry your nails after each application (cool setting) to speed up the drying process.
