The Body Shop Shea Butter and Olive Body Butter Review

My The Body Shop shea and body butter haul
Without further ado, let me say this: hands-down, this is the best shea butter I've tried. Seriously. I've tried everything from the high-end brands to the unrefined shea butter, but The Body Shop shea butter best caters to my needs and gives me the most amazing, softest hands (and body) I could want.
Backtrack to a couple of weeks ago: I went inside my neighborhood The Body Shop for the first time in years, not to buy body butters, but to get tea tree oil to soothe my breakouts (more about that and an in-depth review coming soon!). After I got my tea tree products, I wandered inside the shop and tried the body butters. Ten years ago, I was addicted to their Olive body butter, but for some reason I stopped buying it and went on to use other brands. After trying their testers, I asked myself why I stopped using these products. They are very emollient and just moisturize beautifully with a light scent.
I kept browsing and saw shea butter on the shelf. Take note that I have tried a lot of shea butters, from the most expensive to the unrefined stuff. They're always either too hard/thick, or they just don't moisturize enough. When I tried The Body Shop's shea butters, I was blown away. It spreads easily on the skin, instantly moisturizes the hands and even the cuticles without making the skin greasy, and leaves a very light, pleasant scent that is not cloying. I used to have very dry skin on the knuckles and the skin was already turning dark and scaly, and no amount of any kind of product made it go away. Except TBS shea butter. It simply eradicated the dark, scaly knuckles. I was utterly impressed. I immediately bought a mini-tub to place in my purse for my hands and cuticles. I use it after every hand-wash, and it instantly gives me soft, supple, moisturized skin. I really wanted to buy the big tubs for my bathroom that I can use after every shower, but I wanted to wait for a sale.
I had to pat myself on the back for waiting. A week after, the body butters were on sale for $15 for the big tub instead of the usual $20 (they're still on sale! Hurry!). I went back and stocked up on these babies. I also got the Olive body butter that I'd been using (and was my favorite) a decade ago. I also got another mini-tub of the shea butter for the office. $15 is a steal for 6.7 oz. of really amazing product, especially for very dry skin.
The Shades Of U Rating: 5.0 out of 5 stars
So there you go. This is one of my favorite products of the month, and possibly the best discovery in a long while. Try the shea butter out at your nearest TBS store to see for yourself. Remember, the body butters are still on sale as I write, so hurry and stock up!

I without fail get at least one of these every xmas. I love it. But this year I also got a Fruits and Passions in shea butter body butter. I can not tell you how wonderful it is. I adore it. If you like the body shops I would recommend that you go into a fruits and passions and demo it (or a store that sells it).
I haven't tried any TBS Body Butter ever! I've heard a lot how good it is but never got around to getting one. Maybe coz it's expensive, ha ha. They just had a sale here but I'll check it out at their next sale.
Jill-O- thanks for the heads up, maybe someday!
Nikki- hope it goes on sale there so you can try them, I really love the shea butter. If it is too thick for you, try their regular body butters. I love Olive the best.
