Hard Candy Nail Polish Swatches and Review

Even before Hard Candy hit the mass market shelves at Wal-Mart, I was already pining for some of its nail polishes with the ubiquitous and uber-cute rings. I was really attracted to the nifty packaging and I've read really good things about the polishes. I finally laid my grubby little paws on them, and here they are!

First of all, I loved the texture of the cream polishes. They applied very well on the nails and they didn't streak at all. Application was a cinch and I was able to apply pretty even coats easily. One of my favorites is Rumor Mill. I thought it was black at first but it turned out to be a very dark purple bordering on black, so it really didn't matter. It was a blackish creme. Period. As I said, it was easy to apply this.

Splendid is another fave. I began to love Hard Candy polishes even more when I tried this - a sunshiny, bright yellow cream that is sooo pretty. Despite the light color, it didn't apply streaky and opacity was excellent. This would look great during the spring and summer, and this would also work great as a Konad base color.

The other two polishes are sparkle or glitter based and would work better layered over more opaque polishes. Date Night is a medium pink, salmon-y dense glitter polish. It's okay, but you would have to layer the product several times if you want a more opaque application. I only applied one or two coats in the photo above, so the color didn't really shine through. I will be using this in a full manicure and will post pictures soon.

Break Up is a clear-based polish with opalescent chunky glitter. This would look amazing layered on light-colored polish. It is on the cool side, and almost looks bridal to me. Love it, but I need to find the perfect polish to pair it with.

All in all, I love the opacity of the creme polishes. I didn't care very much for the glittery ones, although I might change my mind if I layer them over other polishes.

Check these pretties out at your neighborhood Wal-Mart.
