Earthen Glow Minerals Luminess Mineral Mousse Foundation Review

Okay, I have given a review on Earthen Glow Minerals' High Definition Liquid Mineral foundation, and now, here's my take on another one of Earthen Glow's new foundation variants, the Luminess Mineral Mousse I've had the chance to try. It is quite different from the HD variant, and I shall do my best to differentiate the two.

The Luminess mineral mousse foundation is described on the Earthen Glow website as follows:

A Light As Air, Full to Heavy Coverage foundation with a Dewy radiant finish. This all natural Mousse is enhanced with Vitamins "C", "E", K and Primrose Oil. Non-oily foundation delivered in an airless pump. This is very concentrated, a little goes a long way. Your skin will love you for this. This formula gives a dewy radiant finish.

Contains all natural ingredients, and reinforced with stable vitamin “C”. Adding vitamin “C” to skin cells (Fibroblasts) dramatically increases the synthesis of Collagen, a structural skin protein. Vitamin “C” is also an Antioxidant that helps reduce the damage caused by Free Radicals. When delivered to the skin, in a stable form, it reduces Wrinkles and improves Skin Texture.

We’ve also included vitamin “E” and Argan oil. Argan oil is very high in vitamin “E” and Phytosterols, which are good for reducing Scar tissue. It has also shown promise in treating Psoriasis and with continued use helps diminish Wrinkles, Crow’s feet, and Fine lines. Also included is Vitamin K - Vitamin K will help to fade botchy, uneven skin tones and discolouration. Vitamin K strengthens the capillary walls and helps to reduce the appearance of thread veins. Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin which contains chlorophyll which acts as an anti-oxidant.

My Take: Once again, I am blown away by this product. First of all, the packaging is pretty nifty. It comes in an airless pump that is sanitary because you don't get to touch any of the product. The downside to this (in my experience) was that the pump dispenses more product than I could use because this foundation is very concentrated. I had to open the container (which was quite easy to do) to return a fair amount of product.

As I said, the product is quite concentrated, so a little goes a long way. As shown in the pics above, it looks lighter than the HD foundation, but don't be fooled, it also covers well, it is in fact a full coverage foundation. I used my EnKore Makeup Stipple and Swirl duo-fibre brush (review coming up!) in applying this product. I dispense the product on the back of my hand, dip my brush in the blob and apply the product in stippling and swirling motions. I apply more until the tiny blob on the back of my hand is gone. This does not dry as quickly as the HD variant, so I can apply the foundation a bit more leisurely. I LOVE the texture. As described on the website, it is light, airy, but covers really well. The name "mousse" aptly describes the product. It is full-coverage but the finish is a soft matte, almost dewy, not super matte, unlike the HD. I prefer the mousse foundation over the HD during the winter season because my skin feels and looks drier nowadays, so the mousse foundation is just perfect to bring a certain glow to the complexion. I love the finish: flawless, even and soft-matte, almost dewy in certain lighting.

The staying power is good but it is not as good as the HD variant. The HD variant stayed on for the most part of the day, while I had to re-touch when I used the mousse foundation. Nonetheless, the staying power is pretty good and I did not have to do much more than to powder my nose and forehead.

All in all, these are two good foundations, you just have to choose which one caters more to the needs of your skin. Right now, since it's very dry and cold here, I prefer to use the Mineral Mousse Foundation. Come summer when it would be scorching hot and I would look as greasy as hell, I would prefer to use the HD liquid mineral foundation.
