Zoya Nail Lacquer Haul and Konad Nail Art
Monday, October 5, 2009
I was excited to receive my Zoya haul which I ordered from their site a few weeks ago. This was my first time to put in a Zoya order so I really didn't know what to expect. I liked Zoya because the formula is Big 3-free (Tolouene, Formaldehyde and DBP). Before they were delivered, though, I had no clue as to the opacity, consistency, finish and staying power of these nail lacquers. However, I wasn't disappointed. I was blown away by how beautiful the colors are.
I got their Downtown collection which consists of six deep, gorgeous shades that are perfect for fall. Freja is my favorite of the lot. It is a beautiful metallic gunmetal grey that is soooo pretty on the tips. It goes well with most of my power suits and drab fall outfits because it complements the colors yet gives a classic yet edgy look. Indigo is described by its name, a deep metallic indigo. Kotori is a sparkling blue metallic color that is fall-ish as well. Suvi is a metallic moss green. Rea is a very pretty metallic sparkling plum that I can't wait to use, and Lael is one of the more popular Zoya shades, an eggplant cream (mmmmm!).
I also got some individual nail polishes from the site that I can only describe as dreamy and sexy. Some are neutral colors, some pastel-y, and some deep and mysterious.
The minute I saw a swatch of Pasha online, I just knew I had to have it. It is described on the site as "Smoky sand bronze with cool frost finish and a hint of subtle sparkle". Very neutral and workplace-friendly, and yet classy. Zanna is a very feminine color, a dusty rose mauve cream that I also fell in love with while looking for swatches. Jacy is from the Pulse collection, a metallic purple with magenta red sparkle highlights. Such a beautiful deep color! Zara is one of the more popular shades from Zoya as it is quite unique. It is a "duochrome metallic violet with gilded sparkle highlights and a foil finish". Harley is from the Twist Sampler, a soft shimmery grey that looks very clean and classic. Kalista is another popular shade (from the Flourish Sampler), a metallic mahogany brown with gilded sparkle highlights. Demi is one of the prettiest nail lacquer shades I've seen, a purple mauve cream.
Here's a Konad attempt on the last of the Zoya polishes I got, Malia. This is one of my favorites, ever. Malia is a beautiful violet cream that goes on so smooth, so rich. Its opacity is way off the charts. I sometimes have a hard time with cream polishes because they can go quite streaky. When I tried Zoya's creams, though, I was absolutely blown away by how easy it applies on the nail, no streaks, bubbles or whatever. The opacity is divine, very pigmented. The finish is flawless, and when topped with my Seche Vite top coat, I just couldn't stop staring at my nails. I got a lot of compliments with this color, and I am so glad I am no longer a Zoya virgin! I will be getting their Winter mattes pretty soon, so stay tuned for swatches and more Konad attempts using Zoya.
