Jouer Essential Matte Touch Mattifier

I like Jouer's products because they're understated yet elegant, subtle yet classy, and non-pretentious but of high quality. Thus, it seems likely that I expect a lot from other products they create that are not technically makeup (but of course are still part of the makeup routine especially if you have oily skin). I am talking about their mattifier.

I have combination skin and although my cheeks are basically normal to even dry at times, my t-zone is a freaking oil mine and I have to blot every couple of hours to tame the grease. However, in my previous experience, a skin mattifier is a huge help and would lessen the times I would have to de-grease myself during the day using oil blotting sheets. I've tried a number of mattifiers, but this one by Jouer is a little different from the ones I've tried in the past. The company also claims that this product purifies skin with Willow Bark Extract and calms irritation with antioxidants, while firming and moisturizing with Vitamins C, D, & E.

I have been given a chance to try a media sample of the Jouer Essential Matte Touch Mattifier, and as I'd mentioned, it is different from the previous mattifiers I've tried. Most of my old mattifiers come in a tube, but this one is a hard product in a compact. Using your clean finger or a brush, you just swipe a bit of the product and dab it in areas that would need mattifying.



My Take: I like how it is in hard wax-like form because I feel it will last a whole while longer than those in tubes. One or two swipes of the product is enough to cover your t-zone. The effect is immediate and I can see how instantly matte my skin becomes, with the added bonus of making my pores appear less conspicuous, especially in the nose area. It keeps the oilies at bay and applies translucent on the skin, so it doesn't disturb makeup. I really like it and I use it everyday, and keeps me a bit more polished and less greasy and less raggedy-looking throughout the day.

The only downside I can think of is the price. It's $26 a pop, although I think it's pretty reasonable given the fact that the compact is huge and the hard texture of the product will allow you to enjoy this for a long, long time.
