On MAC Cremesheen Lipsticks, Face Brushes and Hello Kitty Nail Lacquer

So this is a hodge-podge post on my newest MAC acquisitions and my thoughts about them. I recently got a MAC cremesheen lipstick in Ravishing. It was actually one of the original cremesheens launched last year. I had been really lemming for it for a long time because I really loved the corally-peachy shade, and cremesheen is one of MAC's best lipstick formulas in my humble opinion. I was finally able to snag one, and I just love how it looks on my lips. I don't have a swatch of it right now but I will post a look using this real soon.

I like that the peachy tones don't look too corally or too light peach. It just has the right amount of pigment to prevent me from looking too washed out. Peach lipstick is kinda tricky on my skintone, because some shades can make my complexion look dirty, ashen or washed out. Thankfully Ravishing is neither one of those ugly peach shades.

I recently got the MAC 109 brush, otherwise known as the small contour brush and it has a wide variety of uses. It can be used as a highlighter or contour brush, to buff in bronzer for a sunkissed look, or it can also be used to apply foundation, whether liquid or powder, although I prefer kabuki or flat top brushes for mineral foundation. I used this to apply the Studio Sculpt foundation (review coming soon), and it really gives a smooth, flawless finish. The downside is that it does shed, especially when you buff in the product, which cannot be avoided if you want a flawless finish. I guess this brush is better used with a light hand, or else it would shed. I know this is normal especially for new brushes, but it is just downright annoying. Other than that, it is a gorgeous, amazing brush, and you can use it many different ways so you really get your money's worth.

I pictured the 109 side by side with the 165 to show their similarities and differences. The 165 is obviously tapered, with a rosebud-shaded head, while the 109 has a round, cotton ball-shaped head. Both work great with highlight or contouring, but I prefer the 109 for contouring and the 165 for the highlight. Both can also apply foundation well. And I love both so much; they're gorgeous.

I wore my On the Prowl nail lacquer from the Hello Kitty collection, and I really love the creamy grey on my tips. It's an unusual color but definitely neutral enough for the office. I would love to do some artsy fartsy nail art using my On the Prowl and All About Pink polishes from Hello Kitty (like a grey background with pink flowers or what not), but I can't - not on weekdays. I work in a conservative office environment so I can't get away with nail art, but I'm pretty much fine with solid nail colors anyway.

Okay, end of MAC rambling.

Wow, we must think a lot alike. I had been wanting Ravishing since last year, and also bought it this week. It's gorgeous (in fact, I'm wearing it today!). Also, I love the On the Prowl nail polish (also wearing this today!).

Liz- glad there's somebody who has the same taste in makeup/polish as I do. Those products are truly gorgeous and worth the wait. :)
