Cosmetic Outlet Haul, MAC Pigments and A Purple Look

We spent last weekend at my in-laws' house in Southern California, and whenever we drive there, it's a must that we pass by the Cabazon Premium Outlets in Palm Springs. I went to the cosmetic company outlet or CCO and just got a smallish haul because I already have most of the MAC stuff that they have there, and some of what I don't already have didn't interest me.

I still have stock of these two so I just got one of each. I got Clinique's eye makeup remover and of course, Beige-ing shadestick, my eye primer staple.

The two brushes were bought at the MAC free-standing store, but the slimshines were bought at the CCO. I love my new brushes! I got a back up of my 217 brush and my first full-size 242 brush. I have a 242SE brush but, as always, the full-size brushes are way superior over the SEs. The holiday brush sets are gorgeous, but if you are really serious in investing on excellent quality brushes, I highly suggest getting full sizes instead of the brush sets as the latter are mass-produced and are of inferior quality compared to the long-handled brushes. The brush sets do deliver, but the full sizes are more beautiful and of superior quality, and will last you a lifetime if you take care of them.

My new Slimshines. I love the formula as it is like a lipstick and lipglass in one.

Here are some of my recent MAC full size pigment acquisitions. These are all brand-new so those that look half-full only meant that the products have settled in their containers. I used to have samples of these but I wanted full-sizes just in case I want to swap samples of these. I got the Viz-a-violet from the CCO, Circa Plum from a swap and my gorgeous Museum Bronze from the free-standing store. I thought they had run out of Museum Bronze as this is a highly coveted LE item. Good thing they still had a few in stock! It is a beautiful bronzey metallic brown that would look amazing in a wide variety of looks. It can be as neutral or as dramatic as you want it.

These were swatched dry without a base. Imagine how much more intense this would look if they had been foiled or primed!

I used Viz-a-Violet in the pink and purple look below. I don't have a close-up eye look but you can somehow see the placement of the colors in the face photos.

MAC Beige-ing shadestick as primer
MAC Girl Friendly paint pot on lid

Nikki- I just tried my full size 242 today and I can definitely say it's worth it. I thought it would be just a concealer brush but the hairs are totally different.

Pooja- They last on me pretty long; I only touch up after eating.

PS: I have initiated an idea to create a fashion and style blogroll where bloggers from the jewelry, fashion, style and beauty could participate.
All you need to do is to add my blog link to your blog and i'll do the same.
That way, we could have a mutual partnership and we could refer visitors to each other's blog.
Please let me know if you would be interested.

Thanks!
